For the past few months, speculations have been rife that Tollywood star director Sukumar has been holding talks with Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan. It seems there is some development in the project. According to a report in Midday, Sukumar is said to have locked the genre for this mega project.
“King Khan will play an anti-hero, but this will be a rural political action drama that promises to show him in a raw, rustic, and desi avatar that blends his mass appeal with his global superstar image. It will also explore social issues like caste and class oppression,” stated the report.
Earlier, rumors indicated that Sukumar and King Khan would collaborate on a dark psychological thriller, but the latest report suggests otherwise. Shah Rukh Khan and Sukumar are now occupied with their respective projects, and it will take them not less than two years to wrap up their existing commitments. Hence, even if this North-South collaboration materializes, it might not happen anytime soon.
