Kiran Abbavaram is aggressively promoting his romantic drama Dilruba, which will be released on March 14, 2025. His previous outing, KA, was a super hit at the box office. The majority of audiences were impressed by its out-of-the-box concept and twist in the climax. However, due to the climax, an OTT platform rejected buying KA’s digital rights.
In an interview, Kiran Abbavaram revealed this shocking fact without naming the digital platform: “We received a lower amount for KA’s digital rights than expected. Lately, it has become mandatory to show them (OTTs) the complete film. Otherwise, they aren’t buying the rights. For KA, the final copy was not ready until the last minute. OTTs might not be able to judge a film with the rough copy,” said Kiran Abbavaram.
The actor added, ” For most films, the final copy will be ready very close to the release. I went to an OTT platform with KA’s rough copy, but they didn’t like the climax. The representatives liked the other portions but were unsure about the climax. Hence, the deal didn’t happen. To be very honest, I did KA believing in its climax. Hence, I think it’s wise not to show the rough copy.”
