Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly-anticipated action drama, Lal Salaam, has finally hit the silver screens across the world in all languages this morning. Rajini’s elder daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth has directed this film with cricket as its backdrop, and it also features young heroes Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles.
Despite the fact that Rajini’s previous movie, Jailer, was the all-time 3rd highest grossing dubbed movie in Telugu with over Rs 47 crore share, the buzz around Lal Salaam among Rajini’s Telugu fans and trade circles was pretty ordinary. However, much to everyone’s shock and disappointment, Lal Salaam’s first day first shows have been cancelled due to poor occupancies across several centres in the Telugu states. Fans who have booked the tickets online have already been refunded by the ticketing platforms, while the fate of the film’s further shows hang in the air.
In Lal Salaam, Rajini will be seen in an extended cameo where he plays a Mumbai underworld don named Moideen Bhai. The film has its soundtrack composed by AR Rahman, while leading Tamil production house Lyca Productions has bankrolled the project on a huge scale.
