Tamil suspense thriller Maharaja, headlined by Vijay Sethupathi, was a blockbuster at the box office. In its first segment of release, Maharaja earned over Rs. 100 crores gross. The movie, directed by Nithilan Saminathan, received applause for its screenplay. Recently, Maharaja was released in China, and the thriller struck a chord with the Chinese audience.
The movie is enjoying a consistent run in this region, and the latest update is that Maharaja overtook the mighty Baahubali 2 to emerge as the all-time highest South Indian grosser in China. Till now, Maharaja has earned Rs. 86 crores gross in this territory and is racing towards the three-digit mark. When we look at the top Indian grossers in China, Maharaja is now in the tenth position.
Maharaja’s worldwide gross is currently around Rs. 193 crores, which will soon surpass the Rs. 200 crore mark. The film also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami Gopikumar, and Divyabharathi in pivotal roles. Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy jointly produced the movie under the banners of The Route, Think Studios, and Passion Studios. Ajaneesh Loknath composed the tunes.
