Maverick director Sukumar has not announced his next project following the historic success of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The Allu Arjun-starrer scripted history by grossing over Rs 1,800 crore at the global box office and ended up as the second highest-grossing Indian movie of all time.
In the Pushpa franchise, Allu Arjun played the role of a red sanders smuggler named Pushpa Raj. During an award ceremony in Chennai, Sukumar revealed an interesting story behind the name Pushpa Raj.
“The red sanders smuggling has been rampant in South India for decades. I had initially planned to make a documentary on the red sanders smugglers. As part of the research, I met with several smugglers. One of those smugglers was named Pushpa Raj, and everyone used to call him Pushpa. I felt the name was interesting and decided to name Allu Arjun’s character after smuggler Pushpa Raj,” said the genius director.
Even though he is tight-lipped about his next project, Sukumar is rumored to be teaming up with his Rangasthalam hero Ram Charan for his next project. However, an official announcement is awaited. This crazy project will be going on floors in 2026.
