The Malayalam version of Mohanlal’s most anticipated action thriller, Empuraan, is raking in huge moolah at the ticket windows. The biggie has already gone past the Rs. 200 crore gross mark at the global box office. However, this Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial is finding it tough to attract Tollywood moviegoers.
Mohanlal and Prithviraj promoted the film well in Hyderabad, and as a result, the Telugu dubbed version posted a good opening of Rs. 2.25 crores gross worldwide. However, the Telugu version couldn’t hold its ground and completely collapsed at the box office. Empuraan Telugu managed to collect only Rs. 3.5 crores gross worldwide in five days.
The buyers invested a significant amount in the dubbed version, and they are now staring at huge losses. Some opine that the controversial elements led to the failure. Not just Telugu but even the other dubbed versions of Empuraan are heading towards a big failure.
Only PAN Indian films with universally appealing content are gaining good reception in other languages, and this Mohanlal starrer has only succeeded in impressing the home audience.
