Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT hit the screens yesterday, and as expected, the film is off to an excellent start at the worldwide box office. According to the latest update from the production house, The GOAT collected Rs. 126 crores gross on its opening day. This is the second 100-crore opener for Vijay after the blockbuster Leo.

The GOAT is the second biggest Kollywood opener of all-time and is only behind Vijay’s own Leo. The fact that Kollywood’s top two all-time openers are under the name of Thalapathy Vijay proves that he is the undisputed numero uno of Tamil cinema. In international markets, the film collected close to $6 million. In Tamil Nadu, The GOAT is the fourth biggest opener with about Rs. 31 crores gross.

The other three films that are ahead of GOAT are Beast, Leo, and Sarkar, and interestingly, they are also fronted by Thalapathy Vijay. However, the reports aren’t encouraging for The GOAT in regions other than Tamil Nadu, and we need to see how the film fares in the long run.
