The Kerala Story’s television premiere to happen tonight; Kerala CM strongly opposes

The controversial film The Kerala Storystarring Adah Sharma, struck gold at the box office with about 240 crores nett. No OTT platform came forward to secure digital rights, and after many months, it recently premiered on the ZEE5 platform and registered phenomenal viewership.

The film’s television premiere will happen tonight on Doordarshan channel at 8 PM. This has not gone well with the Kerala state government. Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan lashed out at Doordarshan’s decision to telecast this movie. He took to his Twitter account and wrote, “The national news broadcaster shouldn’t become a propaganda machine if the BJP-RSS combine and withdraw from screening a film that only seeks to exacerbate communal tensions ahead of general elections.”

For the unversed, the film is said to be based on real-life events in which thousands of Hindu women were forcefully converted to Muslims and made part of ISIS. The Kerala government fought hard to stop the film’s release in theatres back then. The Kerala Story also starred Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, Siddhi Idnani, Devadarshini, and Vijay Krishna in crucial roles. Sudipto Sen is the writer and director of this film. Vipul Amrutlal Shah bankrolled this sensational film.
