Vineeth Srinivasan, who directed the blockbuster Hridayam, recently came up with the film Varshangalkku Shesham. The film was released alongside Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham, and it has collected about 70 crores gross at the worldwide box office. However, the film’s performance isn’t great in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil producer and distributor Dhananjayan shared interesting details about the film’s Tamil Nadu business. Dhananjayan said, “I liked the trailer of Varshangalkku Shesham and decided to distribute it in Tamil Nadu. I called the producer and told him the same, but much to my surprise, he quoted 15 crores on an MG basis for the Tamil Nadu rights. Manjummel Boys did about 14-15 crores share. The producer told me that Varshangalkku Shesham is a better film than Manjummel Boys.”
Dhananjayan continued, “I offered a reasonable amount, but I was taken aback after listening to the quoting price. Then, I dropped the idea of releasing the film, and no one came forward to take the rights. Later, it was released on a free basis. My distributor friends told me that Manjummel Boys is a one-time magic. To date, Varshangalkku Shesham collected about 50 lakhs share in Tamil Nadu and it may add another 25 lakhs in the final run.”
The movie stars Pranav Mohanlal, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Nivin Pauly, Aju Varghese, Basil Joseph, and Neeraj Madhav in key roles. Visakh Subramaniam produced this flick, which has music by Amrit Ramnath.
