Bollywood actor Govinda was one of the most popular stars of the 90s. He was last seen in the 2019 film Rangeela Raja, where he played a double role. In a recent podcast with Shaktimaan actor Mukesh Khanna, he shared some intriguing details about his connection to James Cameron’s Avatar.

Previously, Govinda claimed that he was offered the lead role in Avatar but turned it down due to the extensive shooting schedule, which he believed would take a toll on his health. Now, in the latest podcast, he has revealed another lesser-known fact.

According to Govinda, when he was approached for the role, he not only declined it but also suggested the title Avatar for the film. This previously undisclosed detail has now come to light.

Avatar, the 2009 sci-fi epic starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, became a global phenomenon. James Cameron is currently working on its third installment, Avatar: Fire and Ash, slated for release on December 19, 2025.
