It is widely known that Varun Tej’s last two films, Gandeevadhari Arjuna and Operation Valentine, did not perform well at the box office. However, Varun Tej, who remains undeterred, is eager to showcase his potential. He is now gearing up for the release of Matka, a period drama set to hit theatres on November 14, 2024, in multiple languages. The film is directed by Karuna Kumar.
As Varun Tej continues to promote the movie through various interviews, he recently spoke about the failure of Operation Valentine. In one such interview, he addressed the film’s poor performance, explaining that while Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter did have some impact, it was not the primary reason for the film’s underperformance. He stated, “Its effect was minimal. The real issue was that we compromised during the script stage, which I was aware of. Producing such a film with a budget of Rs. 40 crores is challenging, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet the mark. While we received appreciation for our effort, the outcome wasn’t as expected.”
Varun is now highly confident about the success of Matka. Produced by Vyra Entertainments and SRT Entertainments, the film also stars Meenakshi Chowdhary and Nora Fatehi in significant roles. Further updates will be shared in due course.
