The movie has an uncanny resemblance to the present day political situation in the State. Tollywood talk has it that this movie’s script was written with Chiranjeevi in mind and due to compelling circumstances Jagapathi Babu was roped in as the hero in the last minute.

What is it about : It is about how a common man becomes a neta and then with the help of praja balam becomes an Adhinetha (leader of leaders) and weeds out corrupt politicians and political practices in the state. Suribabu (Jagapathi babu) is the village goodie who has a steely determination and a soft heart. With MLA Sriramulu’s (Parachuri Gopalakrishna) recommendation he lands a job in the C M peshi. The C M played by Ahuti Prasad is a parody on the present day Congress leadership. Ahuti Prasad’s Rayalaseema accent leaves little to guess as to who director Samudra was imitating. On Sriramulu’s death Suribbau contests and wins as an MLA and along with 25 independents becomes a consensus candidate for the C M’s post. From there on the film is about how he tames the previous CM and his goondas and overcomes land and liquor mafia. It is not much of a story. But, it is the treatment that makes Adhinetha a slightly different film.

What is Good:Parachuri brothers scripting (BC means brief case, SC means suit case) drew a lots of wild hoots in the theatre. Samudra’s direction is really good and apt in parts. Jagapathi Babu’s characterization and enactment of Suribabu is really strong. Srikanth Deva’s music and Shraddha Das’s dance sequences are other positives for the film. But the film definitely belongs to Jagapathi Babu. His nomination of candidates for his Mana Desam party wherein he selects commoners and educated youth drew instant claps in the movie hall. There are a lot of dialogues on current affairs, (naming of state’s landmarks after leaders in Delhi, Ayesha’s murder in the hostel being the two striking ones) which is sure to draw audiences across all centers.

What is bad:The movie is too lengthy – almost 3 hours! Songs and fights at the most unexpected and unwanted places are sure to test the audience’s patience. The love story between Jagapathi Babu and Shraddha Das is very weak. Director Samudra made matters worse by roping in Hamsa Nandini in the love triangle. The biggest drawback though is the climax. It seems to have been shot in the lines of Chiranjeevi’s Avilala Sabha. The “Vote recall” speech by a (stabbed and shot) Jagapathi babu in the climax is too commercial, and lacks credibility. The movie in the guise of giving a strong socio-political message takes overt political tones against one particular party while going easy in the rest. This is sure to pull its ratings down in certain areas of the state.

Me Thinks:If you are keenly following political happenings in the state, this movie is an easy one time watch. You might even like it!

Tailpiece: Do not be surprised if life follows art and Chiranjeevi with 25 seats becomes the CM of the state on May 16th. In case of a hung verdict, this possibility cannot be ruled out!
