The audio of Mirapakay is expected to have songs very typically suitable for its protagonist Ravi Teja. Music director Thaman got his first recognition using Ravi Teja’s image, mixing his out of the world percussions, Rahman-esque violins and good tunes in Kick. Of course Thaman couldn’t repeat the magic for Ravi Teja’s Anjaneyulu. What does he do with Mirapakay? 123telugu.com tells you:
01 – Adigora Choodu
Singers : Ravi Teja, Karthik, Rahul Nambiar, Allap Raju, Ranjith Lyrics : Ananth Sriram
Mirapakay starts off energetically with a dance number. Thaman employs some really good singers of South India for this song – Karthik and Rahul Nambiar. While they keep the song rocking along with the electric guitars, Ravi Teja’s dialogue in between adds to its ‘spice’. Ananth Sriram has done a good job using almost all Telugu words and yet not making it sound too heavy. This song makes the impact that a typical Ravi Teja number should. Somewhere in the middle of this number Thaman pays ode to R.D.Burman’s title song of Shaan! Stand up and dance!
02 – Vaishali Vaishali
Singers : Thaman
Lyrics : Bhaskarabhatla
Thaman, chose to sing for Vaishali Vaishali and the reason is pretty evident once the lyric starts. Thaman’s voice suits Ravi Teja so perfectly that you’ll see the actor dancing in front of you. Bhaskarabhatla, who is the go-to person for such songs these days, doesn’t disappoint at all. Infact he brings in some meaningful lines to the end! Violins and electric guitars together are good anytime, but the usage of Shehnai adds to the irritatingly fun element of this number. Fun continues.
03 – Gadi Thalupula
Singers : Karthik, Geetha Madhuri
Lyrics : Seetharama Sastry
Gadi Thalupula has one of the best song openings I’ve heard in the recent times. While the chorus leads to underestimate this song, once the silence sets in every instrument builds upon you. Sensuality and Seetharama Sastry are a surprisingly sweet combination, and this song is just that! Karthik excels. The only problem could be the girl’s voice which betrays the emotion. However, the blend of sitar, veena, nattuvangam, guitars, violins is too good to notice any glitch in this one. An Illayaraja-ish touch is definitely noticeable right ahead of the third stanza!
04 – Silakaa
Singers : Rahul Nambiar, Chitra
Lyrics : Bhaskarabhatla
After listening to some entertaining music Silakaa is quite ordinary. Nothing wrong with the music, except that it is something we’ve heard it since long. Chitra, as usual is terrific as she croons in high pitch. The lyric too lacks in imagination.
05 – Dhinaku Dhin
Singers : Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics : Chandrabose
Shreya Goshal’s voice, right after the previous song is such a relief, and so is the classical violin in this song. Lyrics make you laugh out loud. However, it is the usage of South Indian percussion that makes this song likeable. Of course Shankar Mahadevan is relentlessly traditional but adds necessary filmy touch. This song could easily be amongst the best usage of instruments that Thaman has done so far in his career. Enjoy its Indian feel, and don’t forget to imagine Ravi Teja dancing to it!
06 – Chirugaley
Singers : Rita, Megha, Janani, Vardhini, Ranjith, Naveen Madhav
Lyrics : Sahithi
Chirugaley is short, almost beautiful, with almost every voice used in it making an impression. Just watch how it starts off in South Indian folk style, backed on western music, and ends to a north Indian beat. Nothing speaks about India more than its music!
07 – Mirapakay
Singers : Ranjith, Rita
Lyrics : Harish Shankar S
The title song, quite opposite from its true blue Telugu fee has English lyrics. That doesn’t mean the lyrics are bad though. This is just another bit song that will be used throughout the movie to elevate the hero. Fair Enough.
The audio of Mirapakay has exactly what a Ravi Teja movie should have. What the audio lacks in melody, is balanced sweetly with terrific usage of instruments. Generally a good review of music raises expectations from a movie, like it did with Thakita Thakita etc. However, the best part is that the music never breaks away from reminding us that it is a Ravi Teja movie. That should keep the expectations in check! Overall the audio of Mirapakay has a good filmy feel to it, while the music director works exceptionally within the limits of a typical Telugu film music. Well done Thaman! Buyig the CD recommended.
