Laksh Chadalavada, who is trying his hand at different genres, has now come up with an action thriller, Dheera. The movie, directed by Vikranth Srinivas, is now out in theatres. Let’s see how the film is.

Story:

Ranadheer (Laksh Chadalavada) is a driver by profession. He does things only if offered money, no matter what the severity of the situation is. A group of doctors assign him the task of taking a patient from Vizag to Hyderabad. Doctor Amrutha (Neha Pathan) and an anesthesia doctor accompany him. In this process, Ranadheer gets to know that the patient is an influential person. Who is that patient? What is his background? Did Ranadheer complete the task? This forms the crux of the story.

Plus Points:

Laksh Chadalavada is neat in his rugged avatar, and he performed all the action sequences in a good manner. His comedy sequence with the goons comes at the right juncture and evokes laughs in the hall. Even when the scenes don’t have enough meat, Laksh covers it up with his presence. The second half has a few key moments that keep the proceedings going. Though the main plot is routine, the crucial revelation scenes are still watchable.

Sai Kartheek’s songs are neatly composed and they are also shot well. Neha Pathan is decent in her given role, and she looked good on screen. All the action set pieces are well-conceived. Himaja is alright as CM’s P.S. Dheera doesn’t cause much boredom, thanks to the sharp editing.

Minus Points:

The movie is filled with action sequences throughout, but it scores low on the emotional front. The emphasis was more on heroism and action elements, and hence, the film lacked the desired emotional depth. Even a few emotional moments present in the movie don’t make any impact.

Soniya Bhansal’s role is forgettable. Things become a tad too easy for the protagonist as he fights some bigwigs all by himself. The first half is all about establishing the hero’s characterization and his love track with the leading lady. The scenes in these portions aren’t much engaging and could have been written better.

Technical Aspects:

Not just the songs but also Sai Kartheek’s background score is also good. Kanna’s cinematography is satisfactory. The production values are good. The dialogues aren’t that good. The editing is impressive.

Director Vikranth Srinivas presented Laksh in a neat manner, but to do that, the emotional part was sidelined. The second half is slightly better than the first half, as this is where the main plot point is revealed.

Verdict:

On the whole, Dheera is a one-man show from Laksh with more focus on action elements. Laksh is pretty good in his role, and the second half had some passable scenes. The plot is routine, and the first half is below par with not-so-exciting romantic portions. Had there been a good balance of action and emotional elements, the end result could have been much better.
