Veteran actor Rajendra Prasad, who is always known for his comedy roles, is mostly seen in character roles lately. This time the talented actor has tried some thing different and come up with a film called Dream. This film, which has a unique story line is directed by Bhavani Shankar and is produced by Satish Mainam. After being in the making for quite some time, Dream has finally hit the screens. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Retired Major Rajendra Prasad(Rajendra Prasad) has a unique disease. He always has bad dreams, and because of this he is in a fix to find out whether things that are happening is a dream or real life. Since major portions of his dream features his wife trying to kill him, he fears her and his entire surroundings. His craziness leads to one such situation, where he uses his military gun and kills all his neighbors randomly. Later Rajendra Prasad gets arrested and upon interrogation, reveals his disease to the police. Rest of the story forms as to whether he really killed his neighbors, or is it just his dream that he ends up imagining.

Plus Points:

The story idea of the film is quite unique and the director should be lauded for choosing an interesting script. Other than this point, there is nothing much to talk about in this film.

Minus Points:

As said earlier the director has selected a unique subject, but completely fails in its execution. The pacing of the movie is so slow that it takes for ever to finish. Scenes like Rajesndra Prasad walking in the colony and listening to songs, have been shown for over ten minutes. The whole movie is showcased only in the last 15 minutes. His disease and problems related to it, are showcased right through the first half. His getup, looks and actions in the whole movie just lack justification.

Technical  Aspects:

Only saving grace of the film is its background score. Rajesh S gives decent background which makes the movie interesting in bits and pieces. Camera work is also a let down and so is the editing. Screenplay and dialogues are also not up to the mark. The director completely fails to execute this interesting story on celluloid.

Verdict:

On the whole Dream is one film which is has nothing going for it. Only saving grace is its interesting script and on the flip side, bad sequences and a complete let down in execution makes ‘Dream’ a film which can be completely ignored this week.
