‘Drinker Sai,’ starring Dharma and Aishwarya Sharma as the main leads, is the latest Tollywood youthful entertainer to hit theaters today. The title has an interesting tagline ‘Brand of Bad Boys’. Check out our review and find out if the Kiran Tirumalasetti directorial has managed to impress the audience.
Story:
Drinker Sai (Dharma) is a jobless drunkard. He has crores of assets, but his parents are dead. On the other hand, Bhagi (Aishwarya Sharma) is a disciplined and well-mannered girl who blindly believes in naturopathy. Sai pursues Bhagi and succeeds in winning her love. What is the nature of Sai and Bhagi’s love story? Does Bhagi really love Drinker Sai? Will Sai’s life transform with Bhagi’s entry? Watch the movie on the big screen to know the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
Even though Drinker Sai is filled with romance and bold elements, it also features decent emotions. Especially the emotional love scenes between Sai and Bhagi are good. The interval sequence is not bad either. Dharma’s portrayal of the Drinker Sai character, the scenes showcasing his drinking problem, the characters that revolve around Sai, and the comedy generated by those characters are decent. Drinker Sai impresses with its concept and some romantic scenes.
Dharma, who played the hero in Drinker Sai, transformed his looks and physique well according to his character. His realistic performance is yet another asset. Heroine Aishwarya Sharma also comes up with a fine performance. All the supporting actors have done justice to their roles.
Minus Points:
The screenplay of ‘Drinker Sai’ is slow and fails to engage the audience at times. Adding to this, the main conflict was not quite impressive, and even the main characters were not properly connected. Dharma’s character arc lacks coherence. Wonder if today’s generation will be interested in watching such melodramatic love stories. Freshness was also missing in the content.
Although director Kiran Tirumalasetti impresses with his deft handling of certain scenes, he should have taken enough care in the scenes that ran on a lackluster narrative, particularly in the second half. In addition, the story lacks direction thanks to some unnecessary scenes. While this emotional love story features a few comedy scenes and love elements, it lacks interesting and arresting content to engage the audiences throughout.
Technical Aspects:
As mentioned earlier, although the emotional content in the film is decent, the story does not follow an interesting narrative structure. The songs composed by music director Sri Vasanth are just okay. Prashanth Ankireddy’s natural cinematography makes all the locations visually pleasing to the eyes. The editing by senior editor Marthanda K. Venkatesh is decent. The production values by the producers Basavaraju Srinivas, Ismail Sheikh, and Basavaraju Laharidhar are good.
Verdict:
Drinker Sai is an emotional romantic drama that features decent emotions and comedy. However, the slow pacing and the lack of interesting elements in the second half are the major drawbacks of the movie. Eventually, the young audiences may only connect with a few bold romance scenes that the film offers.
