After Ratsasan, Vishnu Vishal is back again with another crime thriller, FIR. Directed by debutant Manu Anand, the film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Irfan Ahmed (Vishnu Vishal) is leading a peaceful life with his mother, a policewoman. He works in a lab as a chemical engineer. Meanwhile, NIA, having Ajay Dewan (Gautham Vasudev Menon) as the National Security Advisor, is in search of the most wanted terrorist, Abu Bakkar Abdullah. The team receives a tip about the criminal and suspects Irfan is the terrorist. They arrest Irfan and start interrogation after his involvement in a massive bomb blast. Is Irfan the most wanted terrorist? What happened next? To know everything, you need to watch FIR on the big screens.

Plus Points:

The story itself is a big plus to the movie. Vishnu Vishal nails his character, especially in emotional scenes. It’s a tailor-made character for Gautham Vasudev Menon. He delivers his best as an NIA officer. Manjima Mohan as an advocate plays a decent role. Raiza Wilson and Reba Monica John give their best.

The racy screenplay in the second half and the excellent background music make the crime thriller an intriguing one. The action sequences that come in the second half make you enjoy the flick. Director runs the movie with a gripping screenplay and reveals the twist in a neat manner.

Minus Points:

The movie runs on a slow note in the beginning and takes time to reveal the main plot. The cinematography could have been better. In this kind of thriller, the story could have been more interesting by adding more twists and turns.

It seems that the team doesn’t concentrate much on VFX. Manjima is limited to only a few scenes and to our surprise, the other female leads have a better screen presence than her. Though the movie is a crime thriller, audiences expect a few comedy and love scenes, which are lacking in FIR.

Technical Aspects:

Director Manu Anand, who earlier worked as an assistant director for many GVM’s movies, makes a decent debut with FIR. He executed the movie in a good manner. Ashwith gives the best music which helps in elevating many scenes. Arul Vincent’s camera work is okay. Production values are good and the editing by Prasanna is fine.

Verdict:

On the whole, FIR is a decent crime thriller that makes you enjoy it more in the second half. Vishnu Vishal’s performance and the music are the assets of this movie. The out and out action thriller can’t please every section of audience. So, if you are a huge fan of thrillers. give it a shot.
