Focus stars Vijay Shankar as the protagonist and has Ashu Reddy as the female lead. The film, directed by Surya Teja and produced by Relax Movie Makers, hit the screens today. So let’s see how it is.

Story :

Pramodha Devi (Suhasini Maniratnam) is about to become a high-court judge. Her husband Vivek Varma (Bhanu Chander), a Police officer, gets killed suddenly. S.I. Vijay Shankar (Vijay Shankar) takes up the job of nabbing the criminal. During this murder investigation, Vijay learns about many angles related to the murder. In particular, the doubt presumes on three people, and there lacks any clarity making the Police department scratch their heads. Hence the case would be handed over to CBI Officer Prema (Ashu Reddy). What did Vijay Shankar do about this case? Who killed Vivek Varma? What is the role of Pramodha Devi in this whole episode? How did the story end? This forms part of the rest of the film.

Plus Points :

The biggest positive factor of the film is the point taken by the makers and the film’s background. The main lead Vijay Shankar is impressive with his act. Vijay Shankar’s body language is on point, and he performed well in a few investigative and suspense-filled scenes. Ashu Reddy, who acted as the leading lady, looked vibrant and gorgeous on-screen though her role hardly had any scope.

Suhasini Maniratnam, who played a vital role, did very well. Also, Bhanu Chander and Bharath Reddy were good too. The rest of the cast is decent in their respective roles. The storyline by director G Surya Teja and a few suspense sequences are decent.

Minus Points :

Focus movie lost focus on its script. Of course, one has to have a thrilling and intriguing narrative while dealing with suspense thrillers to engage the audience. But Focus completely missed those elements. In addition to this, many scenes seem cinematic.

The first half of the film is one more drawback. Though the director tried to run the second half in an interesting manner by placing the thrilling elements, he missed many logics as a whole. Moreover, the director didn’t succeed in coming up with a gripping screenplay.

The main characters in the film should have been written in an even better manner. Also, there are issues in the hero’s characterization. The protagonist’s track gets weakened at a point in time. A few scenes seemed artificial due as they appeared to be overdramatic.

Technical Aspects :

Director G. Surya Teja should have made more effort to create an engaging crime drama. Also, more care was needed regarding the screenplay of the film. It would have been better if the makers concentrated a bit more on the script.

Even the music by Vinod isn’t good. But the cinematography by Prabhakar helped the film to an extent, and the frames are in tune with the film’s theme. The production values are splendid.

Verdict :

On the whole, Focus attracts the audience only in a few parts. A few suspense scenes came out well. Suhasini and Vijay Shankar impress with their performances. However, slow narration, boring treatment, and lack of a strong conflict point were the main setbacks that brought down the film ultimately.
