Tamil film Irugapatru is now streaming on Netflix. The movie stars Shraddha Srinath, Vikram Prabhu, Vidharth, Sri, Saniya Iyappan, and Abarnathi in pivotal roles. Let’s find out how it is.

Story:

Mitra Manohar (Shraddha Srinath) is a marriage counselor and a psychologist. Her married life is blissful, and she tries her best to eliminate differences between couples. Arjun (Sri) has some understanding issues with his wife, Divya (Saniya Iyappan), and hence consults Mitra for a solution. On the other hand, there is Rangesh (Vidharth), worried about his wife Pavitra (Abarnathi) putting on weight continuously. Despite Rangesh asking Pavitra to lose weight, the latter couldn’t control her craving for food. As his married life is not good, Rangesh asks Pavitra for a divorce. Shaken by this, Pavitra consults Mitra for a resolution. Out of the blue, Mitra also starts having issues with her husband, Manohar (Vikram Prabhu). What happened next is the crux of the story.

Plus Points:

Writing screenplay for these kinds of films is really a tough job, but Yuvaraj Dhalayan has passed the task with flying colors. The movie is a sensible take on relationships with beautifully written characters, situations, and dialogues. The film is handled in such a manner that not just couples, but everyone will get connected to it deeply.

There are three stories, and each has its own share of importance. The conflict point in all the stories is solid, and this is what makes us root for the characters. The solutions provided for those issues are sensible and practical. The character establishments are superbly done. We transport into the world of Rangesh, Mitra, and Arjun within no time.

The movie is not just engaging, but it is also informative too. It talks about things like “Love Language,” which might be helpful to many. The director cleverly infused humor at a few junctures to keep the viewers entertained. Just when we think that Mitra’s life is going smoothly, the director comes up with an excellent conflict point and makes the film more interesting.

Kudos to Shraddha Srinath, Vikram Prabhu, Vidharth, Sri, Saniya Iyappan, and Abarnathi, who did a fabulous job. The earnest and natural performances of the actors make this film even more adorable. The soothing music and neat visuals are an add-on. Irugapatru is very much suited for family viewing.

Minus Points:

The pacing is a bit slow at times, and the length of a few sequences could have been trimmed down. Especially during the mid portions, the tempo comes down a bit.

The runtime also could have been shorter, considering the film’s genre. Irugapatru gets slightly predictable at times. As Irugapatru is a lighthearted flick, it might not be overwhelming for the masses.

Technical Aspects:

Justin Prabhakaran’s pleasant music and Gokul Benoy’s visuals work in favor of the film big time. The production values are too good. The editing is decent. The makers deserve special appreciation for coming up with such heartwarming content.

Director Yuvaraj Dhalayan has come up with a subject to which most of the couples can relate. The way he penned the characterizations and conflicts is brilliant. Except for the slow pacing at times, he did a good job with the film and is surely a talent to watch out for.

Verdict:

On the whole, Irugapatru is a sensible take on relationships with a blend of good emotions and neat humor. It joins the list of lighthearted entertainers like Dada and Good Night with its simplistic approach. There are three stories in Irugapatru, all of which have equal importance. The performances of artists are incredible, and the movie has all the elements to win over the family audience. Despite pacing and runtime issues, the film will end up being a good watch.
