Malayalam star, Prithviraj teamed up with Shaji Kailas once again for Kaduva which is one of the most hyped-up movies in the actor’s career. Finally, the action drama has hit the screens today, and let’s see how it is.

Story:

Kaduvakunnel Kuriyaachen Chettan (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is the most respected and sought-out individual in his locality who does plantation. But things take a complete U-turn when he gets into a tussle with IG Thomas Chandy alias Ousepputti (Vivek Oberoi). This makes the complete police department go against Kuriyaachen and his family. What is the clash about? What happens next? Did Kuriyaachen save his family? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Prithviraj Sukumaran is one of the finest actors in the country and he proved it once again with his powerful performance in Kaduva. His screen presence, punch dialogues, and attitude is excellent in every frame of the movie. You simply can’t take your eyes off him.

The first half of the film runs at a fast pace and it keeps us engrossed for the most part. Though the film starts on a slow note, the conflict point is well established which makes us connect easily with the story. Vivek Oberoi got a good role and he performed well.

Minus Points:

The entire second half is a big let down and things go completely flat The film is quite lengthy and the editor could have shortened the movie as close to fifteen minutes. The film also reminds us of the actor’s recent films. Samyuktha Menon as Elsa doesn’t get much scope in this serious action drama.

The movie gets completely predictable and it just sticks to the same old template of a hero chasing down the villain for avenge. Even if that’s not the problem here, the way things are executed is a big disappointment after a very promising start.

Technical Aspects:

The director managed to do an okayish job. If he could have taken care of the latter half, the movie would have been a potent action entertainer. Jakes Bejoy did a good job with his music. He elevated a few scenes with his terrific background score. Songs we’re good too.

Cinematographer Abinandan did a fantastic job with his camera work. The frames were of very high quality. The production values are too good. Few fight blocks were composed terrifically.

Verdict:

On the whole, Kaduva is a passable action drama that had much scope but got restricted due to the issues in writing. The film has a very good first half and a below-par second half. Prithviraj fans will enjoy the way in which he was presented in a mass avatar. You can give it a try if you love watching mass entertainers.
