Talented and promising actor Santosh Soban is back with another film titled Kalyanam Kamaneeyam. The movie hit screens today. Let’s see how the film is.

Story :

Shiva (Santosh Soban) is a jobless guy and Shruthi (Priya Bhavani Shankar) is his wife, a software employee. Shruthi believes that Shiva will get a job and prove himself. So, she lends her support to Shiva, emotionally and financially. All of a sudden, Shruthi demands her husband get a job as soon as possible and distances herself from Shiva. What did Shiva do next? Did Shiva get a job? Why did Shruthi change suddenly? The answers will be known by watching the main movie.

Plus Points :

Young actor Santosh Soban has yet again proved that he can pull off any character with ease. His character connects to the majority of the youth. His subtle performance as a lovely husband is one of the assets of the movie.

Kalyanam Kamaneeyam marks the Tollywood debut of Priya Bhavani Bhaskar. She looks good in her role and gets a good scope to perform. The characters played by Kedhar Shankar and Devi Prasad are fine.

The comedy scenes between Santosh Soban and his father Kedhar Shankar evoke a few laughs. Saddam is okay in his given role.

Minus Points :

Debutant director Anil Kumar Aalla chooses a very routine story that comes up with no twists and turns. It is quite easy to predict the proceedings. Though the runtime is less than 2 hours, the film makes you feel bored in a few scenes, especially in the second half.

The narration is very slow and one can doubt what actually the director wants to say with this kind of boring story that was seen by many people many times.

Priya Bhavani’s role is okay but her behaviour is so naive. One wonders how a broad-minded person lacks faith in her husband by believing in someone else and distances herself from him. The director should have come up with a story that has proper emotions. Unfortunately, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam, a family drama lacks such emotions.

Technical Aspects :

Director Anil Kumar Aalla deals with a simple yet routine story, that fails to impress. He should have written an engaging love story with decent comedy and emotions. Coming to music, Sravan Bharadwaj’s work is unremarkable and one would barely remember a song. Camerawork is fine and so are the production values. Some scenes in the second half should have been chopped off to make the film a bit better.

Verdict :

On the whole, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam is a routine family drama that lacks the punch. Except for a few comedy scenes and Santosh Soban’s subtle performance, the film has nothing to look out for. If you are okay with such a routine story, you can give it a watch. Otherwise, skip it this weekend and go for other options.
