Santosh Shoban, who attracted youth with Ek Mini Katha, has teamed up with Merlapaka Gandhi for a comedy entertainer titled Like, Share & Subscribe. Jathi Ratnalu actress Faria Abdullah plays the female lead. The movie hit the screens today, and let’s see how it is.

Story:

Viplav (Santosh Shoban) is desperate to take his Youtube channel Guvva Vihari to a higher level and thus teams with Daniels (Sudarshan), a famous cameraman. They both travel to Araku to shoot a travel vlog. In this process, Viplav comes across Vasudha Varma (Faria Abdullah), who is a famous Youtuber and also his inspiration. Viplav keeps trying to win over Vasudha, and during this, they land in big trouble. What is this trouble? Did Viplav save Vasudha from this problem? Did he win over Vasudha’s love? This forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Santosh Shoban impresses big time from the very first frame of the film. The young actor performs with ease throughout the film, and he is pretty good when it comes to comedy sequences. Santosh also dances well and looks pretty cool in the movie.

Faria Abdullah again succeeds in attracting attention with her cute looks and performance. There is a bit of innocence in Faria, which matches her role in Like, Share & Subscribe. She is the one to watch out for as she has great screen presence.

After the leads, Brahmaji and Sudarshan get more screen time and try their best to make us watch the film. A few dialogues are written keeping in mind the social media users, and they fare decently.

Minus Points:

The movie majorly suffers from a wafer-thin plot and doesn’t offer much after a point. It gets dragged unnecessarily and keeps going on without a proper screenplay. There is an undercurrent element existing in the film, but that is sidetracked completely, and the comedy angle dominates the serious aspect.

Due to the silly comedy, the emotions are also not presented well, and they seem artificial. The movie has a decent premise and could have turned out interesting had the screenplay been better. But the director only sticks to the entertainment aspect leaving out the core element, making the film tiresome.

The Sapthagiri track and other sequences in the second half make us understand how bland the writing is. The length could have been trimmed to keep things better. The songs, too, don’t make an impact and add to the length.

Technical Aspects:

The music by Praveen Lakkaraju and Ram Miryala is decent. The cinematography by Vasanth is eye candy, and he captured the Araku and the forest locations fairly. The production values are good. The costumes department did a nice job.

The lengthy second half should have been wrapped up quickly by the editing team. Coming to director Merlapaka Gandhi, he falters heavily regarding the screenplay. His thought to provide more entertainment kills the movie’s soul, and hence the film squanders around inconsistently. His screenplay needed some heavy corrections.

Verdict:

On the whole, Like, Share & Subscribe is a disappointing watch. The lead cast, Sudarshan and Brahmaji, try their best, but the lack of seriousness in the screenplay and underplay of core points make the movie a bland watch this weekend. You can skip it and look for something else.
