The low-budget film Music Shop Murthy, starring Ajay Ghosh, Chandini Chowdary, Aamani, and Amit Kumar, released today in theaters. Read our review to find out how the film fares.
Story:
Murthy (Ajay Ghosh) is very passionate about music. He struggles to generate enough income despite opening a music shop, and his family urges him to close it down. However, Murthy is determined to find a way to increase his earnings and decides to pursue the art of DJing. With the support and guidance of Anjana (Chandini Chowdary), he delves into the challenging and exciting process of learning DJing. Will he succeed in becoming a DJ? You can find the answer by watching the movie.
Plus Points:
Ajay Ghosh is undeniably one of the most versatile actors in Telugu cinema. Once again, the senior actor exhibited exceptional versatility in Music Shop Murthy. His portrayal of Murthy was commendable, and Chandini Chowdary also delivered a solid performance as the supporting lead. Aamani excelled in her role and gave an impactful performance. The film’s first half effectively sets the tone and has some decent moments. Surprisingly, the dialogues in the movie are impressive, and a couple of songs and the score are decent. The rest of the cast justifies their roles.
Minus Points:
The film’s first half sets the stage well, but the second half couldn’t keep up with the momentum. After a point, the film becomes highly predictable and routine. In the second half, some of the emotions look forced, taking the film down.
Despite its potential to inspire, the film falls short because of its ordinary presentation. Moreover, the pacing hampers the overall impact, especially in the second half. A more dynamic and compelling storytelling approach could have elevated the viewing experience.
Technical Aspects:
Debutant Siva Paladugu did an okay job as the director, but he excelled as the writer. Some of the dialogues are genuinely clap-worthy. The production values are good. Nageshwar Reddy’s editing is below par, as he fails to keep the narrative interesting. Pavan’s music is just okay. Had the songs and score been better, they could have had a more significant impact on the film. The visuals by Sreenivas Bejugam are decent.
Verdict:
On the whole, Music Shop Murthy has a good premise, but the movie falls short of delivering a satisfactory experience due to its slow screenplay. Ajay Ghosh delivered a praiseworthy performance, and some dialogues were good. Chandini Chowdary also did a neat job, but the predictable narration and forced emotions in the second half acted as the main drawbacks. The intention behind the film is quite good, but the narration could have been much better. Hence, the film ends up being just an okay watch.
