After a three-year gap, Hansika Motwani acted in a Telugu movie titled My Name Is Shruthi, and the flick hit the big screens today. Check out our review to know how the movie is.

Story:

Shruthi (Hansika Motwani) works at an ad agency in Hyderabad, and an unexpected incident unfolds in her flat. The police take her into custody and interrogate her, unraveling numerous mysteries. The movie answers the questions about what occurred in Shruti’s flat, how MLA Gurumurthy (Aadukalam Naren) is related to it, and how Hansika resolves the issue.

Plus Points:

Bubbly actress Hansika Motwani takes on a different subject and delivers a commendable performance, especially in the second half.

The storyline explores the intriguing concept of the skin mafia, a topic never touched upon in Tollywood. Director Srinivas Omkhar adeptly handles this unique point, sincerely attempting to narrate it.

The second half provides an engaging plot with decent twists, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

In addition to Hansika, the characters portrayed by Murali Sharma and Praveen are praiseworthy, while the remaining actors perform adequately in their respective roles.

Minus Points:

While the chosen storyline is fine, the director could have delved deeper into the skin mafia concept. Illuminating real incidents would have added an informative layer to the narrative. Hansika’s performance adds interest, but there’s room for improvement in a few scenes.

Although the second half is well-narrated and has enough twists, the director falters by not maintaining a similar pace and racy screenplay in the first half. Unnecessary scenes lead to a slow start.

Veteran actress Prema, in her Telugu comeback, plays a different character. Still, the script misses an opportunity to showcase her negatively and give her more screen space to showcase her performance.

Technical Aspects:

Director Srinivas Omkhar handles the film well, but a better focus on the first half, similar to the latter half, would have improved the overall impact. Editing, particularly in the second half, could be tightened. The cinematography is satisfactory, and the production values are decent. Mark K Robin’s music creates a suspenseful atmosphere.

Verdict:

On the whole, My Name Is Shruthi is a thriller that has its moments of thrill. Hansika Motwani’s decent performance and the intriguing storyline laced with twists in the second half are the main highlights. However, a less robust story and a slow-paced first half are the drawbacks. Thriller enthusiasts can give this film a watch this weekend.
