Annapurna Studios has produced a Telugu web series titled Vyooham which is now available on Amazon Prime Video for streaming. Check out our review to know how it is.

Story:

Taking charge as the new ACP, Arjun Ramachandra (Sai Sushanth Reddy) is assigned a hit-and-run case involving Michael (Chaitanya Krishna), who suffered the loss of his unborn child. As Arjun delves deeper into the investigation, he uncovers a complex web of interconnected cases, one which includes his own mother’s demise. What transpires next? Did Arjun manage to solve the mysterious case linked to various others? The series unravels these mysteries.

Plus Points:

Sai Sushanth Reddy delivers an okay performance as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ensuring the series runs well.

Chaitanya Krishna is nice in his role, giving a neat performance. Ravindra Vijay, portraying a nuanced policeman, shines despite the limited screen time, leaving a lasting impact with his subtle acting.

The director skilfully narrates a few episodes, successfully building the required excitement for a suspenseful thriller.

The score adds depth to the story here and there, and well-executed twists and turns maintain interest, thanks to the cohesive teamwork.

Minus Points:

While the story’s synopsis held promise for a compelling suspense-filled series, connecting numerous cases to a road accident introduces confusion.

At times, viewers may question the decision to unnecessarily prolong the series, wondering why the story was intentionally dragged in the middle.

The introduction of numerous characters, some lacking meaningful contributions, is a drawback. For instance, Monika Thagalapalli, portraying an IAS officer, lacks a strong character.

Technical Aspects:

Director Sashikanth Srivaishnav Peesapati, also the story writer, could have simplified the narration given the complexity arising from numerous stories and characters. A more focused screenplay would have transformed Vyooham into a more refined suspense thriller.

Among the technical team, Sriram Maddury contributes effectively with his background score. Sidhardha Reddy’s commendable cinematography contrasts with Sai Murali’s editing, which could have been much better to enhance Vyooham as a series.

Verdict:

On the whole, Vyooham ends up a disappointing thriller, despite satisfactory performances from Sai Sushanth Reddy, Chaitanya Krishna, and Ravindra Vijay. The story’s complexity, unnecessary length, underdeveloped characters, and their stories serve as drawbacks. Exploring alternative entertainment options is advisable.
