The crime comedy Paarijatha Parvam, starring Sunil, Chaitanya Rao, Shraddha Das, and Harsha Chemudu, hit the big screens today. Check out our review to know how it fares.

Story:

Chaitanya (Chaitanya Rao), determined to make his directorial debut with his friend Harsha (Harsha Chemudu) in the lead role, faces rejection from producers who appreciate his story but oppose his casting choice. After enduring insults from producer Shetty (Srikanth Iyenger), Chaitanya hatches a plan to kidnap Shetty’s wife, intending to demand ransom for his film. What happens next? Did he kidnap Shetty’s wife? Who are Bar Seenu (Sunil) and Parvathy (Shraddha Das), and how are they related to the story? All these questions will be answered in the movie.

Plus Points:

Harsha Chemudu, known for his witty humour, delivers laughs with impeccable timing, especially in the second half. Chaitanya Rao shines in his role as an aspiring director.

Comedian Sunil’s performance as Bar Seenu is noteworthy. His scenes with Chaitanya Rao and Harsha Chemudu are a major highlight, providing ample laughs. Srikanth Iyengar also impresses with his role.

Minus Points:

For crime comedies, the plot should not only be entertaining but also narrated in an engaging manner to thrill the audience. Unfortunately, Paarijatha Parvam lacks this engaging quality.

Director and writer Kambhampati Santosh could have paid more attention to the screenplay. A well-crafted screenplay laced with thrilling elements could have greatly benefited the movie.

While the comedy scenes featuring Sunil and Harsha are enjoyable, some feel forced. The film also includes unnecessary filler scenes. With better dialogue writing, the movie’s impact could have been different.

Several characters lack proper development. The female lead, Malavika Satheesan, has limited screen time. The characters played by Samir, Surekha Vani, and Srikanth Iyengar could have been more intricately developed to add depth and humour.

Technical Aspects:

Kambhampati Santosh falls short of making his mark with this venture. With more focus on developing the story and screenplay, the outcome could have been different.

The songs composed by Ree are okay, but the background score is disappointing and at times irritating. The score resembles the 8-bit ringtones from old Nokia phones, and its repeated use diminishes the impact of the scenes. Bala Saraswathi’s cinematography is decent, but Sasank Vupputuri’s editing could have been sharper for better pacing. The production values are satisfactory.

Verdict:

On the whole, Paarijatha Parvam is a disappointing crime comedy that fails to engage due to its weak storyline and screenplay. While Harsha Chemudu, Sunil, and Srikanth Iyengar manage to save the film to some extent with their comedic performances, the movie is hindered by unnecessary scenes, pacing issues, and a lack of engagement. Consider exploring other entertainment options this weekend.
