Veteran director Kodandarami Reddy’s son Vaibhav, is a successful name in Tamil cinema. Once in a while, his Tamil films are dubbed into Telugu. The latest one to be dubbed here is Kappal. Interesting aspect is that maverick director Maruthi is presenting this film for Telugu audience. Titled Pandavullo Okadu, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:-
Vasu (Vaibhav) is one among five best friends who decide to stay unmarried throughout their life. Incidentally, Vasu is a fun loving person and wants to enjoy all the pleasures of his bachelor life. One fine day, he lies to his friends and shifts to the city in search of love. There, he falls in love with a rich girl named Deepika(Sonam Bazwa).
Twist in the tales arises when Vasu’s friends catch him red handed with Deepika. The upset group then decides to separate the couple and start plotting for the same. Rest of the story is as how Vasu escapes from this tricky situation and wins his love.
Plus Points:-
Concept of the film is quite interesting and novel. There are a lot of comedy elements in the film as the proceedings move quite smoothly. Hero Vaibhav does a superb job and is quite hilarious in his role. His acting has improved by leaps and bounds and is quite a treat to watch during the comedy scenes.
The female lead, Sonam Bazwa is decent and is a apt choice for her role. All her scenes with Vaibhav are interesting and have been executed well. First half of the film is entertaining and has some hilarious moments.
Minus Points:-
Even though this film is high on comedy, it is painfully long. Certain scenes in the climax have been stretched out unnecessarily and could have been easily edited. Lack of known faces will surely go against the reach of the film.
The conflict point in the film is diluted with just one simple scene which also lacks seriousness. This is a kind of film which is predictable in nature and does not have any of those mesmerizing scenes.
Certain scenes during the second half look over the top and silly. Songs spoil the flow of the film and could have been totally avoided.
Technical Aspects:-
Production values are quite good as the camera work covers the locations well. Editing is decent but the makers could have let go off many scenes to make the proceedings racy. Songs are decent but come as speed breakers in the film.
Screenplay is just about ok as some boring and unnecessary scenes are invoked into the proceedings once in a while. Coming to the director Karthik, he has done a decent job with the entertainment part but stretches the film way too long.
Verdict:-
On the whole, Pandavullo Okadu is a film which has some entertaining elements. Interesting first half and some youthful elements will connect with the youngsters well. If you manage to sit through the lengthy run time, ignore the predictable script and have nothing else to do, you can give this film a shot.
