Along with half a dozen films, a small called Premaku Raincheck has also hit the screens today. Let’s check how it is.
Story:
Vicky(Abhilash) and Ramya (Priya) are colleagues in an adventure sports agency. Impressed with Vicky’s passion and commitment towards work, Ramya falls for him. Right when she is about to express her love, Tanya(Monica) enters the scene as Vicky’s girlfriend. Who is this Tanya? Why did she make a sudden entry? Who will Vicky pick among these both? To know this, you have to watch the film in theaters near you.
Plus Points:
Abhilash and Priya are good in their respective roles. Generally, newcomers are camera conscious and feel a bit difficult to showcase proper emotions. But looks like both of them have overcome that nervousness and look confident on screen.
While Abhilash is good looking as a stylish boss, Priya carried her role quite effectively throughout the film. Her dubbing and Telugu accent are good which are an added advantage in her career.
Second heroine Monica is decent in her role and provides the required glamour show. All the artists who acted as heroine’s roommates are okay in their given roles. A few cute scenes canned on the lead pair during the climax are impressive.
Minus Points:
One of the major drawbacks of the film is its dragged and slow-paced narration. Being a triangle love story, the audience expects an interesting and engaging screenplay but sadly, that is missing from the film.
Till interval, the film is not much interesting except for a few moments between the lead pair. In the latter half too, things continue to disappoint as some unwanted and not so impressive scenes take center stage. Noted comedian, Adhurs Raghu’s comedy track is silly and irritating.
Technical Aspects:
Production values for this limited budget film are superb and are a big plus. The cinematography is excellent as the visuals are top notch. Especially, an adventure song which comes in the first half is picturized beautifully. Editing work is disappointing as the film needs to be trimmed for at least half an hour.
Coming to the director Akella Peri Srinivas, his idea of making a triangle love story with rich values is good but his execution is horrible as the dragged narration dilutes the mood of the audience. If he would have narrated the proceedings with an interesting and engaging screenplay, the result would have been surely better.
Verdict:
On the whole, Premaku Raincheck is a triangular love story which lacks the basic freshness. Though the film’s visuals and lead artist’s performance are impressive, flat narration and not so gripping screenplay makes the film an outdated and boring watch this weekend. Skip it and select something else interesting.
