Telugu audience always encourage dubbing films, and because of this we see one or the other dubbing film releasing every week. This week it is ‘Kulfi’ which is the Telugu version of the Tamil film, ‘Vadacurry’. ‘Journey’ fame Jai and Telugu girl Swathi are playing the lead roles. Directed by Sravana Rajan, this film also stars Bollywood hot actress Sunny Leone for a special song. Let’s see how this film is.

Story:

Harish (Jai) hails from a middle class family and works as a medical representative. He owns a old modeled cell phone which works weirdly. Because of this, he faces many embarrassing moments daily. His friends say him that girls fall for costly mobiles and they pressurize him to change the phone.

One fine day, he sees an abandoned I phone at a shop and unwillingly takes it. During this time, he happens to meet Swathi (Swathi) and also falls in love with her.

Harish’s brother, who is an honest auto driver asks him to return the phone. When he decides to return it he faces lot of problems. What are those problems and how did he come out forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Jai, who made his debut in Telugu with ‘Journey’ is improving with every film. He gave a matured performance and made complete justice to his role. He was impressive in both comedy and emotional scenes.

Coming to Swathi, she looks perfect in a girl next door role with her cute and bubbly looks. Even though, she is not having a substantial role, she was impressive.

Hero’s friend RJ Balaji performed well in his character. His comedy timing and one liners give enough relief to the audience. Embarrassing moments faced by hero in the beginning of the movie are showcased nicely. Also in the second half, the way hero tackles his problems are picturized well.

Minus Points:

Biggest minus of the film is that there are not many known Telugu actors except for the hero and heroine. Even though this film comes under a comedy thriller genre, there are no interesting scenes which can make audience sit at the edge of their seats.

The first half is slow with all regular scenes. A song spoils the fun in the second half when film picks the pace. Most of the film is quite predictable.

The actor who had essayed the villain’s character should have concentrated more on his expressions. Bollywood sex bomb Sunny Leone fans who come to see her bold moves will surely get disappointed as her song has nothing much in it.

Technical Aspects:

Film’s cinematography is just about OK. Visually, there are no extraordinary scenes in the film. Music is just average and so is the background score.

Coming to editing, editor should have concentrated more on the first half and last 30 minutes of second half. Director Sravana Rajan, has made a good attempt with a good story line, even though this is his first film. He wrote a good screenplay but he could not present it interestingly on the screen.

Verdict:

‘Kulfi’ showcases the problems we face when we desire things which are beyond our reach. Barring some comedy, and few scenes in the second half, rest of the film is quite normal and regular and makes it just a tedious watch.
