The first volume of the final season of Netflix’s Money Heist is available for streaming on the platform now. Here’s our review of the first volume of the final season.

Story:

Season 5 volume 1 starts off where the 4th season ended. The tensions are flaring high inside the bank of Spain as the gang has to deal with menacing-looking hostages and also sort out the internal battle that is brewing amongst themselves. All this while Sierra is holding the Professor captive. Can the gang pull off this larger-than-life heist?

Plus Points:

The first volume gets off to a pacy start as the first episode is loaded with action and tense moments. Much like the previous seasons, it is really hard to predict what happens next in the first volume of the final season. This is its main USP.

The strong conflict point is established right at the start. The Sierra-Professor track adds to the suspense factor. The emotional connect is bang on point. The demise of Nairobi and is effect in the gang members packs a punch. The scenes succeeding the same are presented well.

Minus Points:

There are a couple of logic defying plot twists in the final two episodes of the series. This takes away the authenticity factor.

The screenplay is a tad too convenient at times. Whenever a character is in grave danger, things somehow align for his/her escape. This has been the main complaint about the show right from the first season and the same continues with season 5 as well.

Technical Departments:

The heist crime series mainly banks on unpredictable narrative and the first volume of season 5 is benefited from the same. The writing is sharp, for most parts. The background score is exquisite and so is the cinematography.

Verdict:

Money Heist Season 5 Volume 1 is loaded with heavy duty action blocks and it also has a pretty good emotional connect. But the screenplay is a tad too convenient at times. The ending builds up for the much-hyped Volume 2 which will be out on 3rd December this year. It will make for a good watch this weekend.
