Siddharth’s latest Tamil film, Miss You, hit the big screens and was released simultaneously in Telugu. With a blend of romance and drama, the movie has generated curiosity among fans. Dive into the review to see if it lives up to the expectations.

Story:

Vasu (Siddharth), an aspiring director, loses his memory of the past two years after a tragic accident. His life takes a turn when he meets Bobby (Karunakaran) and ends up in Bengaluru, where he encounters Subbalakshmi (Ashika Ranganathan). Vasu falls for her and confesses his love, but she rejects him. Undeterred, he insists to his parents that he wants to marry her at any cost. However, Vasu soon discovers a shocking twist about his past. Did he know Subbalakshmi before? What happened next? The answers unravel as the story progresses.

Plus Points:

Siddharth delivers a composed performance, staying within his limits and portraying his role effortlessly. Ashika Ranganath impresses with her portrayal of two contrasting shades, bringing depth to her character. Both Siddharth and Ashika look good together. Karunakaran and the supporting cast play their parts well, adding lighter moments to the narrative.

Minus Points:

The story starts on an interesting note but lacks depth and fails to maintain its momentum. Vasu’s profession as a director is barely explored, leaving a significant part of his character undeveloped.

The emotional connection between the lead pair is weak, which diminishes the impact of the romantic drama. The screenplay feels uneven, with many unnecessary filler scenes and underutilised characters dragging the narrative.

While the first half is relatively okay, the second half loses steam and fails to provide a satisfying conclusion.

Technical Aspects:

Director N. Rajasekhar’s idea might have looked promising on paper, but the execution fell flat. The story lacks emotional weight and well-rounded character arcs.

The cinematography is adequate, but Ghibran’s songs and score don’t leave a lasting impression. The editing could have been sharper, as trimming the excessive filler scenes would have improved the pacing. Production values are average. The Telugu dubbing is fine.

Verdict:

On the whole, Miss You is a romantic drama that misses the mark. Despite sincere efforts from Siddharth and Ashika Ranganath, the lack of emotional depth and a pale screenplay make it a disappointing watch. With unnecessary scenes and ineffective comedy, this film fails to deliver on its promise. It’s better to skip this one and look for other entertainment options.
