TV star turned hero, Sagar is makes his appearance as a full-fledged hero in today’s release Siddhartha. The film is produced by Dasari Kiran Kumar and lets’s now see how it turns out to be.

Story :-

Surya(Sagar) belongs to a family who has problems with yet another factionist family. In order to end the deadly feud between the two families, Surya’s mom(Sana) sends him to Bangkok to lead a new life.

There, Surya changes his name as Siddhartha and falls in love with Sahasra( Ragini). When things seem to be going absolutely fine, his mother suddenly asks him to come back and marry the daughter(Sakshi Chowdary) of his enemy’s family.

What will Surya alias Siddhartha do now ? What will happen to Sahasra ? Will he marry according to his mother’s wish ? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :-

Sagar makes a decent attempt as a full-fledged hero. He has the looks, acting talent and screen presence and can go a long way if he chooses his films well. Sagar suits his role well during the first half and makes an impact. All his scenes with the heroine have been designed well.

Heroine Ragini gets a meaty role and impresses to an extent. Happy Days fame, Ranadhir gets a good role and does his best as the supporting cast. Ajay is meaty as the bad guy. The first half of the film is good and the interval bang is very good. Satyam Rajesh manages to bring some laughs during the second half.

Minus :-

Firstly, the director fails to use the talent of Sagar during the second half. The hero is hardly seen during this time and other unnecessary characters take center stage. After an engaging first half, the film falls flat as the twist is diluted and the proceedings get routine with some unnecessary tracks.

The logic goes for a toss during this time as a decent story line is made quite silly. The climax of the film is also dragged with some routine emotional moments. Ajay’s role and his animosity with the hero lack clarity.

Technical Aspects :-

Special mention should go to the producer Dasari Kiran Kumar for his superb production values. All the money he has spent shows on screen. The decent camera work helps to showcase these superb locations nicely. Music is just about okay but the background score is good. Screenplay goes for a toss during the second half.

Coming to the director Dayanand, he has done an okay job with the film. The conflict point, his narration, and writing are very good during the first half. But he too falls for the commercial formulae trap and upsets the proceedings during the second half.

Verdict :-

On the whole, Siddhartha is a below average fare which has some very interesting moments during the first half. Sagar’s performance and good production values are basic assets. But a lackluster second half and dragged out climax makes this film just an okay watch this weekend.
