Continuing with the trend of small budget films, yet another thriller titled ‘The End’ has hit the screens today. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, this film features mostly new comers. Let’s now see how the film turns out to be.

Story:-

Rajeev Mathews(Sudhir Reddy) is a happily married software engineer who lives with his wife Priya(Pavani Reddy )in a huge farm house in the outskirts of Hyderabad. One fine day, his best friend Gautam visits him from the US, and both of them spend some good times together. This is also the time when Gautam woos Priya’s friend Rekha(Gazal Somaih) and takes her on a holiday to Goa.

By the time Gautam returns from Goa, Rajeev gets hospitalized. A curious Gautam inquires with Rajeev as to what happened to him suddenly. Rajeev reveals a shocking truth that his wife Priya has been possessed by evil spirits. Both the friends rush to the farm house to check on Priya. They try to confront her but Priya gets quite aggressive. During the course of this, Rajeev accidentally kills Priya. Rest of the story is as to how both the friends get out of this tricky situation and manage to hide the killing.

Plus Points:-

Major plus point of the film is the interesting story line. The way the script has been weaved around limited characters is quite good. Sudheer Reddy walks away with the cake, and gives in a memorable performance. He has brought out superb emotions in his role of a frustrated husband and has a long way to go in Tollywood.

Yuvaa Chandraa also gives a decent performance and surprises you at the end. Production values are neat, and showcase the film in a good light. First half of the film is nicely set up, and the quirky climax only builds up the tension.

Minus Points:-

The first and major minus point of the film is that it is way too long. The entire film is above two hours which is a tad too long for a thriller. After setting up the first half quite aggressively, the director goes a bit wayward and drags the film. He builds scene after scene and only adds to the run time. Certain logical errors also go missing in the film. The film takes unnecessary twists and turns which are also a bit confusing. The addition of songs reduce the fun factor and sidetrack the plot.

Technical Aspects:-

Camera work in the film is quite good and keeps the tempo right through out the film. Dialogues are pretty good and suit the plot well. Screenplay of the film is good but could have been better in the second half. Director Rahul has impressed with his first film. The way he has dealt with the script and brought out an engaging story is impressive. Editing is below par and at least 15 minutes of the film could have been easily chopped off.

Verdict:-

On the whole, The End is one film which could have been quite thrilling. But an exaggerated narration, and excessive run time makes this film just an average affair. If you have an eye for thrillers, and love films with a twist, you can surely give this film a shot.
