Unstoppable: Unlimited Fun, a comedy film starring Bigg Boss fame VJ Sunny and comedian Sapthagiri, released today in theatres. Check out our review to find out how the film fared.
Story:
Two friends, Kohinoor Kalyan (VJ Sunny) and Jilani Ramadas (Sapthagiri), lose the money saved for Jilani’s sister’s wedding in cricket betting. They seek help from their friend Honey Babu (Shakalaka Shankar), who mistakenly transfers the money to a don named Gnanavel Raja, also known as Kadhar (Vikram Aditya). Kalyan and Ramadas track down the don to retrieve their money but end up getting kidnapped. What happens next? Does the villain return their money? How do Kalyan and Ramadas handle the situation? The movie has the answers.
Plus Points:
VJ Sunny, the winner of Bigg Boss Telugu-Season 5, delivers an entertaining performance. His portrayal, which slightly resembles his role in the ATM series, showcases his rough and tough side, complemented by good comedic timing.
Saptagiri, an established comedian, brings his trademark comedy timing and expressions to the film, delivering his best performance.
Posani Krishna Murali and Bithiri Satthi contribute their part effectively to fill the gaps in the film. Diamond Ratnababu takes a simple story and manages to do justice to it. The music adds to the film’s appeal in certain places.
Minus Points:
The story is outdated and lacks novelty, making it predictable for seasoned movie buffs. Additionally, the storytelling falls short of expectations.
Diamond Ratna Babu attempts to generate comedy through various characters but fails to produce genuinely hilarious moments. The film lacks standout comedic scenes.
Apart from the main characters, the film features a forgettable heroine who adds little value to the story. Many supporting characters lack proper characterization as well.
The villain’s initial portrayal as a ruthless person lacks consistency in the latter half. The conflict scenes between the villain and the protagonists could have been designed better.
The songs are forgettable, but Bheems Ceciroleo’s score manages to rescue the film to some extent. Several artistes didn’t even give proper lip-sync.
Technical Aspects:
Diamond Ratna Babu is okay as a writer but falls short as a director, failing to create a laugh riot with Unstoppable. More focus on a humorous storyline would have been beneficial.
The cinematography and music are just okay. The editing could have been improved by removing unnecessary scenes in both the halves. The production values are neat.
Verdict:
On the whole, Unstoppable disappoints audiences due to its routine storyline and weak screenplay. While VJ Sunny and Sapthagiri deliver commendable performances, the film lacks memorable moments.
