Starring Tejus Kancherla and Khushboo Chodary in lead roles, the suspense romantic drama, ‘Uruku Patela’, had its release. The film is directed by Vivek Reddy and produced by Kancherla Bala Bhanu, with Praveen Lakkaraju as the music composer. Check out our review to know how the film fares.

Story:

Uruku Patela’s story is set in a remote village in Telangana. Patela (Tejus Kancherla) is an educated and good-for-nothing youngster who wastes his time doing nothing productive. Patela wishes to marry a well-educated girl. However, when everyone chides him, Dr. Akshara (Khushboo Choudary) offers to marry him. Why does a highly educated doctor like Akshara want to marry Patela? What turn does Patela’s life take with Dr. Akshitha’s entry? What has Patela’s father and village Sarpanch, Goparaju Ramana, got to do with the story? This forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

The only plus point of Uruku Patela is its hero, Tejus Kancharla, who impresses with the ease in his performance and body language. Tejus has done quite well in the action sequences in particular. Also, Tejus’ performance in some critical scenes deserves special mention. Heroine Khushboo Choudary scores well with her performance. Goparaju Ramana, who played another important role in the movie, is quite impressive as usual. Sudarshan, Lavanya Reddy, and the rest of the actors performed well within the limitations of their characters.

Minus Points:

Although the core point of Uruku Patela has merit, a lack of a compelling screenplay has let the proceedings down to a great extent. When working with these types of plots, the narrative should always be fun and thrilling from start to finish. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen in Uruku Patela. Furthermore, a lot of the scenes don’t flow seamlessly.

Furthermore, logic goes for a toss in several scenes. The romantic track between the hero and heroine also lacks depth. Some emotional scenes also feel fake. While the director made an effort to make the second half interesting by adding a few thrilling elements, it did not quite work out on the screen. The characterization of the lead actors is not convincing.

Technical Aspects:

Technically, the film disappoints on various aspects. However, Praveen Lakkaraju’s music is a valuable addition to the film. Apart from a few scenes that were shot well, the cinematography was mostly underwhelming. The editor’s work is in sync with the narrative. The production values by producer Kancherla Bala Bhanu are average. Director Vivek Reddy couldn’t come up with a thrilling story.

Verdict:

On the whole, Uruku Patela ends up being a disappointing film. The uninteresting treatment, weak characterizations of the lead actors, lack of a strong point in the story, superficial emotions, and logic-less drama together affected the outcome of the movie.
