Continuing with the trend of low budget flicks, yet another romantic entertainer titled Varadhi has hit the screens today. Starring Sri Divya and Kranthi in lead roles, this film is directed by Satish Karthikeya. Let’s now see how the film is.

Story:

Gautam(Hemanth) is a young college going youth who falls in love with his classmate Aradhana(Sri Divya). During the last day of the college, Aradhana proposes to Hemanth and he accepts her love quite happily. Sadly, his happiness is short lived as he gets killed in an accident.

As time moves by, the story shifts to Hyderabad. One fine day, a selfish psycho named Vinay(Kranthi) sights Aradhana and keeps following her. A depressed Aradhana, who is still very much in love with Hemanth, keeps ignoring Vinay. Twist in the tale arises when Vinay gets injured in an accident. From there on, Vinay starts seeing human spirits around him and also comes across Hemanth’s spirit.

He learns about Hemanth’s tragic love story and decides to do something for Aaradhana. Rest of the story is as to how a cruel Vinay changes himself and manages to convince Aradhana.

Plus Points:-

Major plus point of the film is the lead pair Kranthi and Sri Divya. Both of them have done a wonderful job and suit their roles perfectly. Young hero Kranthi is quite promising and carries the entire film on his shoulders. He showcases decent talent and is exceptional in emotional scenes.

Sri Divya looks beautiful in a girl next door role. She portrays decent emotions and brings a lot of depth to the film. Even though young actor Hemanth has limited scope, he does a superb job. First half of the film is breezy and has some fun elements. The love episodes which come during this time and Kranthi’s characterization is a major plus.

Conversation scenes between Hemanth and Kranthi are witty and have been executed well. Some emotional scenes which come during the second half are designed well. Srinivasa Reddy’s comedy track brings in decent entertainment.

Minus Points:-

Major drawback of the film is its length. If the makers could have edited out some unimportant scenes, the outcome of the film would have been different. The director takes for ever to establish the hero’s character and this eats up most of the run time.

The actual reason behind why the main lead sees spirits around him is not clarified right till the end. The film has many scenes which showcase these spirits and could have been easily avoided. In order to make this film commercial, some scenes have been added which were completely unnecessary.

Technical Aspects:-

Camera work by Rajendra Kosani is pretty decent. He makes good use of the resources given and showcases the film in a decent light. Vijay Gorthi’s music is good and all the songs are meaningful. As said earlier, editing of the film is below par as a number of scenes could have been chopped off. Coming to the director Satish, he makes an ok debut. Even though his story is inspired from a Hollywood flick, he has narrated the film decently. Had he opted for a shorter run time and made the film crispier, the output would have been better.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Varadhi has an interesting premise and entertains you to a certain extent. Decent performances by the star cast and sensible emotions are basic assets. On the flip side, some dragged out scenes and lengthy run time makes the viewer uncomfortable. Watch it without any expectations and you might end up liking it.
