Small Telugu movie Vidhi makes its theatrical debut today in Telugu states. Check out our review to uncover how this movie performed.
Story:
Surya (Rohit Nanda), an innocent villager, comes to Hyderabad in a quest to settle his debts by finding a job. One fateful day, he discovers a mysterious pen, soon realising that using it leads to dire consequences. What did Surya do next? Did he use the pen for good or ill? How did the pen change his life? The movie will unravel the answers.
Plus Points:
Despite being a newcomer, the lead actor shines, particularly in the second half, delivering a convincing portrayal of various emotions.
Talented Telugu actress Anandhi adds to the film’s charm with her performance and charisma, even with limited screen time.
The musical score enhances many scenes, contributing to the film’s overall appeal.
Minus Points:
The first half could have been more engaging to match the pace of the second. The film presents an okay storyline but falls short of becoming an excellent crime thriller due to screenplay issues.
The romantic subplot could have been more deeply developed to establish a stronger connection between the lead characters. The lead actor’s performance could benefit from more finesse, especially in emotional sequences.
Some characters may be unfamiliar to the audience, making it challenging to connect with them. The inclusion of a few plot twists could have elevated the crime thriller aspect.
Technical Aspects:
The directors have achieved an acceptable thriller in Vidhi, but a more meticulous approach to the screenplay could have yielded better results.
The musical score is a notable highlight, while the cinematography and editing are satisfactory. The film meets expectations in terms of production values.
Verdict:
On the whole, Vidhi is a disappointing crime thriller. The okay second half and the neat performance from the lead actor are the positives. Nevertheless, a sluggish screenplay in both halves and the unfamiliar characters act as the drawbacks. If you’re seeking weekend entertainment, it may be prudent to explore other film options.
