Young hero Suhas-starrer Writer Padmabhushan has hit the screens today. The movie created an interesting buzz with its promotions and received positive responses from early shows. Let’s see whether the movie lives up to the hype or not.

Story

Padmabhushan (Suhas) publishes his first book Tholi Adugu and wants to be recognised by everyone. All of a sudden, he becomes a famous writer and everyone appreciates him. The twist is, the book wasn’t written by him. Padmabhushan wants to know who wrote the book with his pen name. Who is the writer? Did Padmabhushan find the writer? Why did the writer use Padmabhushan’s name? All these questions will be answered in the main film.

Plus Points

Since the promotions began, the makers have made it clear that the movie is a family entertainer. The story is quite compelling and has all the emotions like love, humour, and sentiment and also has a good message. The director narrates it in an engaging manner.

Suhas proved that he is a good actor through short films and movies. With Writer Padmabhushan, he again proved that he can pull off any kind of role with his outstanding performance. His comedy timing, dialogue delivery and emotional performance are simply amazing. The boy-next-door kind of actor is one of the biggest assets of the film.

Besides Suhas, Ashish Vidyarthi also performed very well. His performance as a father(Madhusudhan), who enjoys the fame of his son and feels that he is the reason behind it, is quite remarkable. His scenes evoke fun.

Rohini Molleti who played the character Saraswathi, mother of Padmabhushan (Suhas), is impressive. Her subtle performance will steal the hearts of many for sure. Actress Tina Shilparaj, Gowri Priya Reddy, and Praveen Katari also delivered their best performances.

Minus Points

The story is good enough to entertain the viewers and it has a neat message that one will connect with for sure. But, the story starts with a slow-paced narration that will make some feel bored.

Actress Tina Shilparaj’s character could have been written in a better way, especially in the first half. One would wonder ‘how a rich girl falls in love with a middle-class guy who has achieved nothing in his life.’ Though the director explains, it still feels unconvincing.

Writing some more scenes for Rohini and Ashish Vidyarthi could have made the movie more entertaining. Writer Padmabhushan could have been more interesting and entertaining if the first half runs at a brisk pace.

Technical Aspects

Debutant director Shanmukha Prasanth delivers a good film that has an interesting story which is a pack of good humour and sentiment. He succeeds both as a director and writer. The production values are rich and one can witness them on screen.

The camerawork by Venkat R Shakamuri and the music by Sekhar Chandra and Kalyan Nayak are impressive and helped the film a big time. Editing by Kodati Pavan Kalyan and Siddharth Thatholu is neat but it could have been better. The runtime is a big add-on for the film.

Verdict

On the whole, Writer Padmabhushan is a engaging film that is a perfect blend of humour and sentiment. The message the director wanted to convey to the viewers is clear and one will connect to it for sure. Suhas’s performance and the climax portion are the assets of the film. Barring a bit of lag in the first hour, the movie has everything to work at the box office and is a worth-watching this weekend.
