Story:

Watch Jaat on the big screen to know the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
Mass action entertainer specialist Gopichand Malineni, who makes his Bollywood debut with Jaat, succeeds in satisfying Sunny Deol’s fans and mass audiences with his maiden effort. Even though the story feels routine, Gopichand’s treatment and approach manage to engage the audience. The multiple action sequences in the first half keep the audience glued to their seats.
Sunny Deol as the quintessential mass hero does well as usual. His performance in action scenes and his trademark punch dialogues are sure to enthrall his fans and mass audiences. The racy screenplay in the first half perfectly builds excitement for the second half. Randeep Hooda comes up with a solid performance in a negative role, showcasing villainy in his unique style.
The face-off scenes featuring Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda are well-executed, and the pre-climax and climax sequences are quite impactful. The film’s success largely rests on the performances of Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda. Star Tollywood composer Thaman’s background score adds adrenaline to the narrative in crucial sequences.
Minus Points:
Jaat being a mass film, the absence of an impactful plot dilutes the overall impact. Director Gopichand Malineni chooses a routine story and fails to add the right emotions to the script. He focuses on the action sequences a bit too much. The high-voltage action sequences might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
The story loses its shine at times due to the lack of logic, while certain scenes in the second half feel too lethargic. The film has several prominent Telugu stars, and their Hindi dialogue delivery feels underwhelming, especially Ajay Ghosh’s lines, which would have been better suited to a Hindi-speaking actor.
Although Thaman’s background score is impressive, its loudness can be a bit nauseating at times. Certain scenes feel repetitive, as they share similarities with several films that we have seen in the past. Randeep Hooda’s character could have been designed in a more impactful manner, and Regina’s character disappoints due to the lack of enough screen time.
Technical Aspects:
Director Gopichand Malineni engages audiences by crafting a routine plot into a decent action entertainer with his approach. The action scenes are well-executed and elevate Sunny Deol’s heroism. However, proper care should have been taken to pen a riveting screenplay. While Thaman impresses with a solid background score, the loudness gets unbearable at times. Rushi Punjabi’s cinematography is decent, but the editing could have been sharper. A few lagging scenes in the second half act as speed breakers. The production values are grand, especially evident in the grand action sequences.
Verdict:
Gopichand Malineni’s efforts to impress the mass audiences with Jaat are partially successful. The action sequences featuring Sunny Deol are engaging. Randeep Hooda as the main antagonist delivers an impressive performance. However, the outdated and formulaic storyline, lackluster sequences in the second half, and not-so-engaging songs are the main drawbacks of Jaat. On the whole, Jaat will just be an okay watch for those who enjoy loud mass action entertainers.
