Rumours on Mahesh Babu-Rajamouli film put to rest

Following the theatrical debut of Guntur Kaaram, Super Star Mahesh Babu recently flew to Germany for an extensive pre-production work on his next major project, tentatively titled SSMB29. Highly acclaimed director SS Rajamouli, known for the Baahubali franchise and RRR, is set to helm this much-anticipated film.

Even as this prestigious project is gearing up for its launch, several baseless rumours regarding the production of this globetrotting action-adventure have been circulating on social media for the past few days. The ongoing speculations suggest that a few prominent Tollywood producers have teamed up with veteran Telugu producer KL Narayana to co-produce this high-budget movie. Needless to say, these rumours have left the fans of Mahesh Babu with mixed feelings.

However, our reliable sources close to the SSMB29 production team have clarified that KL Narayana is the sole producer of this mega project, which will be produced under his banner, Durga Arts. Contrary to the ongoing rumours, KL Narayana has not partnered with any other Indian production house for this film, confirmed our sources.

Acclaimed writer Vijayendra Prasad has already completed the script for SSMB29, and the movie will be going on floors very soon. The production team will officially reveal more details through their respective social media profiles. Meanwhile, the makers are yet to finalize the key cast and technical members. RRR’s advance booking – Looking at the current situation

RRR is India’s biggest film to date and is being awaited with bated breath as it is directed by Rajamouli and has NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgan in key roles. Everyone wants to watch the film and the advanced bookings have been great. Let’s look at the current situation of bookings across its areas of release.

AP-Nizam

As RRR is a straight Telugu film, the advanced bookings in Telugu states are excellent. Tickets are being sold out like hotcakes and most of the shows over the weekend have been sold out in both Nizam and AP. The trade is also expecting record numbers on day one seeing the current state of bookings in Telugu states.

Hindi market

Rajamouli is a big name in Indian cinema and that was proved with the massive collections of Baahubali 2. Naturally, the expectations were huge for RRR. But sadly, the advance bookings are quite poor. The booking is happening on a dull note in various regions of north India. As per the trade, the film will take a normal start at the box office tomorrow. RRR needs a blockbuster talk for the bookings to grow over the weekend.

Malayalam and Tamil

NTR and Ram Charan are big stars in the south but when it comes to the advanced bookings, the situation is just about okay and the tickets are being sold on a slow and steady note. But the bookings in Chennai are solid and the trade is expecting a record number for a Telugu film in the city.

Karnataka

The advanced bookings in the state of Karnataka are also solid. As the pre-release event was held in Karnataka, there is a good buzz that has been created. But the general complaint in the state is that more Telugu shows are being aired than the Kannada version. With the good mouth talk, extra shows in Kannada will also be added.

US Market

From day one, the buzz for RRR has been great in the US. The advanced bookings for the premiere shows in Telugu have already crossed 2.5 million which is a record in itself. But the bookings for Hindi and other languages are quite poor. Once the mouth talk grows, the collections will surely grow over the weekend.

All in all, the fate of RRR will depend on the mouth talk that the film will get on the first day. If the film meets all expectations, then there will be no looking back for Rajamouli and his team.
