Oka Criminal Prema Katha, has been creating quite a buzz with its unique promotions. Directed by the award winning P Sunil Kumar Reddy, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s now see how the film is.

Story:-

Sreenu(Manoj) is a young man, who works in a small video library in his village. One fine day, he falls for Bindu(Priyanka Pallavi) and reveals his love for her. After some days of wooing him, even Bindu accepts his love.

Twist in the tale arises when Bindu’s family leaves their village and goes to Vizaq, to live with her uncle(Satyanand). A depressed Sreenu follows Bindu to Vizaq, and finds out her address. He starts working as a canteen boy in the same college where she studies.

Sreenu gets a even bigger shock, as Bindu starts ignoring him in college. Why is Bindu ignoring Sreenu ? What are the family problems that she is facing ? Will Sreenu manage to win his love back ? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:-

Major plus point of the film is the message that the director has given out. By the end of the film, one can easily connect to the emotional content, and the message that has been conveyed.

This movie is a must watch for today’s parents, to know how their kids are going about in life. Second half has been shown in an very realistic way, and show cases the problems of today’s youth wonderfully.

Coming to the performances, Satyanand is superb in the role of an evil uncle. Hero Manoj has vastly improved from his previous film, and gives in a decent performance.

Minus Points:-

As expected, the film is high on content, but for those who come in with expectations of adult comedy, will surely be let down. Just after the first twenty minutes, the movie gets bogged down, and repeated scenes enter the film.

As the film only takes shape during the second half, the first half has nothing much to offer. Those who seek regular entertainment will be disappointed as this film is a typical message oriented film.

Some torture scenes involving the heroine and her uncle, are shot in a realistic manner, which the audience might find hard to digest. There are many such scenes which could have been easily eliminated, to reduce the harshness of the film.

Technical Aspects:-

Director Sunil Kumar Reddy, deserves a huge praise for choosing a bold subject like this. The way he narrates different problems in the society, and how our own relatives and close aides, try to cause harm is showcased supremely.

However, he could have mellowed down some realistic scenes a bit. Instead of showing one or two, the director brings in way too many scenes, and makes it for a difficult watch.

Dialogues written for a few scenes in the second half are pretty good. Production values are also ok, and so is the camera work. Music of the film is below par, and does not help the film much. But it is his background score which is quite effective.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Oka Criminal Prema Katha sends out the intended message very loud and clear. The way today’s women and youth face problems in the society has been showcased nicely. But the way it has been narrated in a non commercial format, and with a bit of harsh reality will not be liked by one and all.
