Director : Mahesh P
Producer : Vamsi Krishna Srinivas
Music Director : Achu Rajamani
Starring : Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra, Jagapathi Babu, Kalyani

Sundeep Kishan is on a high with the success of Venkatadri Express. He is now back with Ra Ra Krishnayya, which also stars the beautiful Regina. Directed by debutante Mahesh Babu, this film has Jagapathi Babu in a supporting role. Ra Ra Krishnayya has hit the screens today, and let’s see whether Sundeep Kishan gets his second consecutive hit.

Story:-

Kittu(Sundeep Kishan) is a happy go lucky taxi driver in Chennai. He works under Manikkyam(Tannikella Bharani) who deceives him with all his savings. An upset Kittu, gets drunk and reaches Manikkyam’s house and threatens to kill his daughter Nandeswari(Regina)

Moving a bit into the flash back, Nadeswari is hugely upset with her dad for fixing her wedding without her permission. She confronts her dad and reveals her opinion. Right at that point, Sundeep Kishan starts threatening for his money, and kidnaps Nandeswari. As she is not interested in the wedding, even she runs away happily with Kittu.

As both of them keep running away from Manikkyam, a cute love story starts to grow between the two. When things look happy, and settled, Nandeswari is once again kidnapped by Jaggu(Jagapathi Babu).

Who is Jaggu ? Why did he Kidnap Nandeswari ? What will Kittu do now ? For answers to all these questions, you need to watch the film on the big screen.

Plus Points:-

First half of the film is a major plus point. It has some cute romantic moments with entertaining comedy. Once again, Sundeep Kishan’s chemistry with Regina is top class. Both of them share a good vibe and that shows on screen.

Sundeep Kishan has upped his acting and screen presence with this film. He looks a lot of ease and carries his role perfectly. He underplays his character so well and allows Regina to go on with her dominating character aptly.

Regina is the highlight of the film. She has a dominating character and does a wonderful job. She looks glamorous and the director has etched her character in a very lively and entertaining way.

Once again Jagapathi Babu does a sincere job in the film, but could not be utilized completely. More on that later. Songs of the movie are definitely a highlight. All of them have been shot and executed nicely.

Tagubothu Ramesh’s entertains you decently in the first half. Ravi Babu, Brahmaji and Satyam Rajesh do their bit.

Minus Points:-

Even though Jagapathi Babu does a wonderful job in his role, the director could not utilize him properly. The elevation required and the depth in his character is missing from the film.

Right when you see JB’s entry you eagerly await for a power packed performance. Even though he is good in a few comedy situations, the tempo is never built up during his stay.

After a promising first half, the second half slips down drastically. Right after the interval, first 15 minutes is a big let down. Sundeep Kishan has nothing much to do. Too many characters keep coming in and out of the film which makes the film tedious.

Yet another drawback during the second half is neither the love track between Regina and Sundeep or the bond between the two brothers is dealt with properly.

Climax is cliched and has nothing special in it. The much hyped lip lock is also just about OK, and does not look that sensuous.

Technical Aspects:-

Ra Ra Krishnayya is high on technical aspects. A special word of mention goes to the camera work. The visuals in the film look absolutely stunning. Production values are rich, and the way the entire movie has been shot looks very good.

As said earlier, Acchu’s music is also a major plus. All the songs are pretty good and have also been shot well. Dialogues are decent and have been written nicely.

Director Mahesh Babu is pretty OK with his first film. He executes the first half wonderfully, and extracts good performances from his star cast. But as said earlier, he goes off track in the second half and tries to add too many commercial elements.

Screenplay of the movie is pretty good in the first half, but could have gone withe some lesser scenes in the second.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Ra Ra Krishnayya basically works in parts. After an interesting and engaging first half, the second half disappoints you slightly. If you go in to this film without much expectations, you will surely love Sundeep Kishan and Regina’s sizzling chemistry, and the beautiful songs.
