Director : Surya Raju
Producer : Rajesh Kumar
Music Director : Vikas
Starring : Navdeep, Sada

Navadeep is an actor who has earned a name as a good actor but commercial success has eluded this young hero. He has teamed up with Sadaph for the movie ‘Mythri’ and this movie has been directed by Surya Raju. Music has been scored by Vikas. Let us see how ‘Mythri’ is

Story :

Deepu (Navadeep) is a guy who wants to be a director and together with Chitram Sreenu and production manager Uttej, he tries to get a break in the industry. They get a break when Hanu Tv Owner Murthy (Brahmanandam) decides to produce a small project with them. For the shoot, they hire an old bungalow in the outskirts of the city and the owner of the bungalow happens to be a very beautiful woman named Mythri (Sadaph). Deepu requests Mythri to be the heroine in his project and she agrees.

As shooting progresses, strange events happen around the building and they seem connected to Mythri. How the team resolves these mysteries is the story of Mythri.

Plus Points :

In this very poor excuse of a movie, Navadeep and Sadaph tried their level best to salvage the film to some extent. Sadaph looks glamorous in one song. Brahmanandam and Uttej are ok.

Some comedy bits and the hot song ‘Arare Pedave’ may work in C centers.

Minus Points :

There are too many negative points in this movie. Let us see a few. The actual story of the film is limited to the first 10 – 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes only. The rest of the movie is pure trash. It is not a thriller, it is not a horror flick and neither is it a comedy. In fact, it is very hard to classify what this movie can be called as.

It is best not to speak about logic and plot in this film. They are non existent.

The movie is heavily inspired by Charme’s ‘Manthra’. The director failed miserably in keeping the suspense alive and by the interval (which comes as a massive relief by the way), viewers will start wondering why on earth they walked into a theater screening this movie.

None of the questions raised in the movie are resolved convincingly in the climax. Perhaps, the director thought Mythri’s eccentric behaviour itself is enough to keep the suspense alive!!

In the interest of space and time, it is a good idea to stop here.

Technical Aspects :

The movie has poor production values. Editing is terrible and dialogues are utter nonsense. Selvakumar’s cinematography is just about ok and he has succeeded in showing Sadaph beautifully in two songs.

Surya Raju fails as a director and he does not show any talent or conviction in this movie.

Verdict :

This movie has nothing to attract viewers except for a hot song. The film can be safely avoided unless you want to experience how a bad film can cause shock and trauma. You have been warned. The generous 1.75 rating is for Sadaph and Navadeep.
