Young hero Sai Ram Shankar, has been trying hard for a hit from quite some time now. He is back with his latest flick ‘Romeo’. Puri Jagan has penned the story and Adonika plays the female lead. Directed by debutante Gopi Ganesh, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s now see whether Sai gets his much needed hit.

Story:-

The story of the film is based in Rome, where a young American Indian girl Samantha(Adonika) comes for her vacation. On her arrival, she is keenly followed by an Indian guy called Kittu (Sai Ram Shankar). As things move on, Kittu reveals a shocking truth to Samantha, and forces her to come along with him to India.

What is that shocking truth ? Why is Kittu following Samantha ? What is the actual story behind all this ? For answers to all these questions, you need to watch the film on the big screen.

Plus Points:-

The story provided by Puri Jagan is quite interesting, and the suspense factor in the first half an hour is also good. Sai Ram Shankar looks stylish, and does a decent job in his role. Adonika has a meaty role, and provides the necessary eye candy.

Production values of the film are quite good, and places like Rome and Verona have been showcased quite well. Music of the film is also decent, and goes with the flow of the film. Ravi Teja’s cameo has been designed supremely well and brings the necessary comic relief to the film. Subbaraju does a decent job in a cameo.

Minus Points:-

Major drawback of the film is the narration. Even though the story is quite simple, the execution part is miserable. Adonika’s character lacks justification most of the times. The way she goes about hanging out with a stranger, and shows a carefree attitude in times of trouble does not sink with the story line.

First half just hurries on to you abruptly. By the time you settle in with your popcorn and figure out what actually is happening in the film, it is half time. Ali and Jayasudha come in just for a single scene, and do not have any impact on the film.

Technical Aspects:-

As said earlier, music of the film is decent and all the songs have also been shot well. Screenplay of the film is horrible, as a number of scenes just do not make any sense. Puri Jagan’s dialogues are pretty good, and those written for Ravi Teja are very entertaining.

Debutante director Gopi Ganesh fails completely in executing Puri’s script. The way he develops the chemistry between the lead pair is far from convincing. Camera work is quite good, and showcases the locations beautifully.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Romeo is a film which fails majorly because of bad execution and shoddy screenplay. Sai Ram Shankar’s performance and a few songs are the only plus points in this film. Puri Jagan needs to come up with something special this time around to give his brother a much needed hit.
