Family hero Srikanth and lover boy Tarun, are going through a rough phase for past few years. They are once again trying their luck with the multi starrer “Veta”. Produced by C. Kalyan, Veta has Jasmine as the female lead, and Ashok Alle is the director. This action entertainer has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story

Jagan(Srikant) and his brother Karthik (Tarun) lead a happy life, along with their two orphan siblings whom they adopt. Jagan works under Dev Raj (Ajaz Khan), a crooked don in the city.

One fine day, Dev Raj plans to acquire shares of a software company, and threatens the owner of the firm. This scam is exposed by a TV journalist Pravalika (Deepthi Vajpayee) who happens to be the adopted sister of Jagan and Karthik.

Irked by Pravalika’s deeds, Dev Raj’s brothers kill Pravalika and her orphan brother. Upset with this, Karthik decides to take revenge, but is stopped midway by his brother Jagan who works for Dev Raj.

But by the end of the film, Dev Raj and his brothers get killed. Who killed Devraj ? Is it Karthik, or his brother Jagan? To know answers to all these questions, you need to watch this film on the big screen.

Plus Points

Srikanth steals the show with his excellent performance. He is especially good in emotional and action episodes. Tarun played his part well, and looked impressive in his role.

TV anchor, Deepthi Vajpayee who played a pivotal role, performed decently. Krishna Bhagvan is good in his comedy role which provides the necessary refreshment. A few emotional episodes in the second half are quite good.

Minus Points

Female lead Jasmine is unimpressive in the film, and could not carry her expressions well. Even her chemistry with Tarun, is not up to the mark.

First half of the film is a little slow, as there is not much entertainment. Tarun’s love story episode is below average, and only adds to the stretched run time.

Once the second half starts, the film gets predictable and one can easily understand as to what will happen next. Songs are also not up to the mark and come in as speed breakers.

Technical Aspects

Camera work is below par, and has the feel of a old film. Editing is pretty bad, as there are many incomplete scenes which end abruptly. A number of scenes in the first half could have been chopped off easily.

As said above, Chakri’s music is average, as none of the songs are impressive. Even his background score could not elevate the film. Débutante director Ashok, failed to execute what he had on paper. The entire first half is quite routine and he also fails completely in managing the emotions in the second half.

Verdict

On the whole, ‘Veta’ is an unimpressive revenge story which will attract only the B and C centres. Some rustic action episodes and a few laughs here and there, could not save the film. Finally, Srikanth and Tarun need to work hard and wait for a decent hit to make their comeback.
