ED to question Manjummel Boys producers in money laundering case

Manjummel Boys, the new industry hit of the Malayalam industry, recently landed in a legal soup. A case was registered on April 23 against the producers on a complaint that they failed to honor a promise made to Siraj Valiyathara Hameed, a major investor of Manjummel Boys. According to the complaint, the makers allegedly promised Siraj a 40% share of the profits. The complainant mentioned that the payment was not made to him even though the movie made huge bucks at the box office.

The latest update is that the Enforcement Directorate has launched a probe into the financial irregularity case registered against Manjummel Boys producers. Last week, the agency’s officials registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and sent notices to Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir, and Shawn Antony, the founders of Parava Films, to appear for questioning.

As the producers failed to show up, the ED will issue summons again. We need to see how this issue will be settled. Manjummel Boys, directed by Chidambaram, is an edge-of-the-seat survival thriller based on a real-life event that took place in Kodaikanal’s famous Guna Caves.

Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Basi, Balu Varghese, Ganapati S Poduval, Jean Paul Lal, Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, and Arjun Kurian played vital roles. Sushin Shyam composed the tunes. The movie did reasonably well in Telugu, besides the original version.
