Rakul Preet Singh has been on top of her game with back to back hits. Her new film Winner is up for release and on this occasion, we caught up with her during the shoot of her latest film with Naga Chaitanya. Let’s see what she has to say.

Your role in Winner?

I play an athlete who is also a jockey in the film. Because of me, Sai Dharam Tej gets involved with the horses and the entire story kick starts from there. Also, as I am a fitness freak, I had a great time shooting for the film. There are certain scenes where I will be flaunting my athletic body on which I have worked very hard.

Tell us about the film?

Winner is an out and out commercial entertainer with some high technical values. The way Chota K Naidu has shot the film and made it look super rich will be a new experience for the viewers. Major horse riding scenes were canned in Turkey and the way the film has turned out is too good. The film also has some strong family emotions which will touch everyone deeply. In fact, Teju said that he had tears in his eyes when he watched the screening.

Working with Sai Dharam Tej?

I and Tej go a very long way back. We have been close friends for a long time and this helped a lot during the film’s shoot. In fact, we were like two kids who were left in a candy shop. We had a lot of fun during the shoot and Teju is a sweetheart. The way he respects his mom and stays grounded is the best thing about his character.

How is it working with mega heroes?

For me, every hero is the same. I do not treat them special because of their family lineage or anything. Every film is a different experience and I treat my co-star with the utmost respect and give my best to the project.

Working with Gopichand Malineni?

This is my second film with the director and I had a very good time working with him. The manner in which he gives freedom to his actors is very good. Even in Winner, the way he has narrated my character is way too good. He is very chilled out but grabs whatever he wants from his actors.

How are you tackling your star status?

I am very happy and currently enjoying this phase. Also, I am very clear about the fact that what goes up will surely come down one day. I am taking one project at a time and am working hard to look great and perform to the best of my capabilities.

How are you handling so many projects at a time?

I feel that I am managing them quite well. There are also some projects which I had to leave because of date problems or either the makers have replaced me. All the films I either rejected or walked out have been flops. So, I feel that god is with me and is helping me get even better projects.

Working in female-oriented films?

Frankly, no one has approached me for such films. Also, I feel that I am not yet ready for such films as I cannot carry the entire film on my shoulders when compared to a Nayanthara or Trisha. Maybe in the future, I would love to do some sports-based films like Mary Kom.

Upcoming projects?

In March, I start shooting for Karthi’s film in Tamil and am currently juggling between Naga Chaitanya and Mahesh Babu’s films.
