Supreme hero, Sai Dharam Tej’s new film Winner took a positive start at the box office. On this occasion, we spoke to him about his experiences of working on the film.
How is the response for the film?
So far, the response has been decent. The family audience has been loving the film which has opened to some decent numbers. All I wanted was for my producers to be happy and they are with the way the film is performing with each passing day.
Winner’s openings are the highest in your career. How do you feel?
Frankly, I don’t bother about the box office results of the film. I give my best and feel happy only when my producers get their money back on time.
Don’t you think too much of budget was spent on you?
No! The makers spent money on the story and not me. The script was quite heavy and needed the necessary money to be pumped in. The rich visuals are an added advantage of the film and everyone is talking about it so no regrets.
Your mom’s reaction?
My mom, younger brother and best friend Naveen(actor) are my strongest critics. All of them loved the film and especially my scenes with Jagapathi Babu garu.
Working with a senior actor like Jagapathi Babu?
He is one of the best persons in the industry and showed a lot of patience when I used to take a lot of re-takes. The support he has shown throughout the film is just too much.
Winner has a lot of mega-reference. Was it intentional?
No! all the ideas were from my director Gopi and I just followed him. Once I go to the set, I am a complete director’s actor. I forget my lineage and only act according to the instructions.
Reason behind your stylish look?
Everything was planned. As I played a creative head in a newspaper, I had to look good. I completely give the credit to my team who made me look the best in the film. It’s a collective effort and a lot of hard work goes into it.
Your opinion about Chiru’s comeback?
I am extremely happy and watched the film along with the audience. Whenever the songs were on, I was on my feet dancing in the theater. Frankly, it is a feast seeing him on screen. The way he dances and maintains himself is a huge inspiration for us.
Working with Gopichand?
I have learned a lot from Gopi Chand. He has helped me evolved as a person and made me realize my potential.
About Nakshatram?
I am doing a 15-minute cameo in the film and Krishna Vamsi has showcased me in a wonderful way.
