Varun Tej, who has been going through some tough times in his career has now come up with Fidaa. This film needs to click at any cost and Varun in his interview to us spoke confidently that he will surely make a comeback. Let’s see what he has to say.

How important is this film for your career?

Fidaa is quite a crucial film in my career. Personally, both I and all the mega fans were hugely disappointed with my last outing Mister. But I feel things are quite positive this time as the film has come out quite well.

What went wrong with Mister?

Accepting a film is not an overnight decision. We as a team failed with Mister as the film failed in many aspects. I clearly know that my fans were deeply hurt and that is the reason I told them during the audio launch that I will only do films that suit my age and image.

Is that the reason for selecting Fidaa?

In one way you can say yes. When Shekhar Kammula narrated me the role, I connected to it right away. I play a young NRI in the film who falls in love with a Telangana girl. There is no special story as the film will have some beautiful moments narrated in a very interesting manner.

Working with Shekhar Kammula?

More than his directorial capabilities, I like Shekhar as a person. His social awareness and the way he looks at things and gives me knowledge about various issues in life is highly motivating for me as a person. Work wise, he has a different style and I just surrendered to it completely.

Looks like Sai Pallavi will dominate you in the film?

Yes! to an extent. The moment I heard the script I was very clear that Sai’s role would be the highlight. But Shekhar has made sure that I too have some strong moments during the second half where I give it back strongly to the heroine.

Response from your family?

Initially, dad used to listen to all my scripts but for Fidaa, he did not do that as Dil Raju was involved. He saw the film yesterday night and was mighty pleased with the way the film shaped out. Coming to Chiranjeevi garu, he will watch the film tonight.

What kind of films do you want to do in future?

Personally, I want to do action films. I even tried it with Loafer but things did not work out. So, I am taking things as they come and am trying to do different films which will suit my image.

Finally, about the drug mafia in Tollywood?

I can only say that there is truth in both the statements of the cops and film stars who are involved. I know that things like these exist in every industry but the situation is being showcased in a way too dramatic manner as films stars are more popular.
