Nithiin: Bheeshma is a light-hearted entertainer

Hero Nithiin’s new film, Bheeshma, is all set to hit screens on February 21st as a Sivaratri special. On this occasion, he interacted with the media earlier today. Here is the transcript.

Q) Firstly, congratulations on your marriage announcement. Where did you meet your fiancee and give us details about the love story?

A) I met her (Shalini) through a common friend in 2012, after the release of Ishq, we became good friends. Eventually, it blossomed into love and last year, we decided to get married and informed our parents. We are getting married with their acceptance. The marriage will be a destination wedding in Dubai, with close family friends gracing it.

Q) Coming to Bheeshma, when did Venky Kudumula approach you with the story?

A) He came with the idea when I was shooting for Srinivasa Kalyanam. I liked the idea and he started working on the story and we took one year to lock the script.

Q) Tell us about your character in the film?

A) It is a fun character and I will be seen as a meme creator. It’s an easy going, fun-loving role. On the whole, Bheeshma is a light-hearted entertainer.

Q) Any reason behind hiding the organic farming concept till the trailer was out?

A) Bheeshma is an out and out romantic entertainer and organic farming is just a sub-layer in the second half. We tried to narrate this concept in a lighter vein, so there is no specific reason behind hiding it.

Q) About music director Sagar Mahathi?

A) His music is already a hit. The Singles Anthem, Whattey Beauty and Sara Sari are getting a good feedback. He did a good job with the background score also.

Q) Your take on the ups and downs in your career?

A) Yeah, I’m worried about it and it is the main reason for taking a year gap after Srinivasa Kalyanam. I decided to go for the shooting with a bound script so that I will have clarity on the screenplay.

Q) Your last three films tanked at the box office. Which among them did you think will be a sure shot hit?

A) I pinned a lot of hopes on LIE but unfortunately, it did not work at the box office. Back to back failures made me more conscious about my script selection and it is the reason why I took a break.

Q) Any plans to step into the web-series?

A) If any exciting character comes across, I will definitely do it.

Q) What are your next projects?

A) I’m doing Rang De, Chandrasekhar Yeleti’s film, Check and Chaitanya Krishna’s Power Peta. It is going to be a pathbreaking film. Bollywood film Andhadhun remake is also on the cards.

Q) When will Andhadhun remake go on floors and who is the director?

A) Merlapaka Gandhi will direct the Telugu version and it will go on floors from the month of June.
